It would be incredibly difficult to overcome obstacles in a person's life if he believed himself to be wrong. Egotism is a survival skill, without which, a person would not survive.

Socrates must have been a modest, clear-headed person. Finally, despise Internet spreading throughout the world a human being will never be capable of being an encyclopedia.
Here, I do not agree. I do not always think I'm right. Of course, if so insists on earth being flat, I'll reply it it is round because proved. In such cases, of course, I'll feel right.. If I talk with s.one experienced on a given subject, I'll rather have the tendency to shut up and listen.
I do not feel yourassertion is correct.

Well I used to believe that everyone could be wrong and so listened but after years upon years of people crushing the respect for life out of me I now assume everyone is wrong and I am right so that I can hold my own with everyone else

in these troubled times, full of selfishness and anger towrds others, the Ego has taken everything.
nowadays, people can get everything, money, health, cars, high tech products, what else?? anything but the most simple and precious thing, which is: wisdom. we left it behind centuries ago when on our way to see what our future will look like, we met science and the great opportunities it could grant us and stopped giving importance to Nature.observing Nature leads to wisdom cose we'r part of Nature, so when we looking at Nature we'r loking at ourselves.

because they are self centered idiots. Over time, I've come to realize that whenever I am certain of anything with all my heart, I am wrong. Therefore, I work from the assumption that someone else's position means at least as much to them as mine does to me, and since I'll usually find out my position were in error, I figure, so are they. We are human, and subject to error.

Rational, civil dialog is what's needed. One based on respect.
Socrates, AKA the father of western thought, had a great approach.
