Kick the bucket, bite the dust, croak - everyone knows these terms but you must have a few rarer favorites, don't you? Personally, I like the phrase "Check out time at Motel Earth". What's your best term for the big farewell??

what really gets my back up is that there are so many people who call themselves a christian, but they do not practice what is preached in church on a sunday. I was brought up in a christian family, and those values i was taught, eg to love your brother as yourself, help those who are in need, and i'm not a selfish person....then would it not be fair to say i could enter the kingdom of heaven just by the good deeds i do, or is it true that because i dont go to church every sunday to praise his name, i am condemed for hell?...because i worship God, every day and count my blessings, the only difference is it is not in church.....my heart is my church, and why is it so many people have to blaze another human being about their beliefs, this alone in gods eyes is wrong....whatever name we call him by, we must know there is only one god, but let me know, can i still be called a christian if i dont attend church every sunday?.

I mean, there are no real let downs, and it's better than working in a chain fast food place flippin' burgers for 20 years. I 'd be doing something I love and making money for it.

This has baffled me for some time. First off-- who cares what anyone thinks? Do you care what I think? Do you care who I voted for? Do you care if my kid's on the honor role? Do you care that I'd rather be surfing? Of course not. Are people with these things kidding themselves that anyone else cares?

Secondly, and probably more importantly-- what can come from my using a bumper sticker other than harm? If by chance someone DOES like want I have to promote, they'll smile and move on. But there's a WAY bigger chance that someone will be offended by what I have to say and make me a victim of their road rage.

Last but not least-- they're UGLY as CRAP. I paid GOOD money for the styling and industrial design of my car. Why would I want to put some ugly sticker on it to spoil the lines?

Do you have bumperstickers??? Why???

some answers. some of us understand that.
we cant do a thing about that. some of us christians here are not the same as the ones who you think are forcing christian beliefs to non believers.

but why the insults. jokes, disrespect etc., etc.,

we are really hurt by some of your questions.

please all we ask here is have some respect.

we appreciate those questions of yours but not the insults and jokes.
i beg you (non-believers) at least have some respect?

The usual answer is that the perfect design of nature has to have some creator. Well, MAYBE there IS a creator, BUT how do we know with 100% certainty that THERE IS A GOD unless we SEE him or talk to him directly. Why he only spoke to the prophets and doesnt like to speak to us? Why does he allow the RAPE and murder of innocent young girls; and why he doesnt remove all suffering from the world (if he is ALL powerful?????

The following statements, compiled by Dr. Michael Langone, editor of Cultic Studies Journal, often characterize manipulative groups.

Comparing these statements to the group with which you or a family member is involved may help you determine if this involvement is cause for concern.

Place a checkmark beside all items that characterize the group in question. If you check many of these items, and particularly if you check most of them, you might consider examining the group more closely. Keep in mind that this checklist is meant to stimulate thought, not "diagnose" groups.

We suggest that you check all characteristics that apply to your or your loved one's group, then print this browser page for future reference. You may find that your assessment changes over time, with further reading and research.

Check List

The group is focused on a leader to whom members seem to display excessively zealous, unquestioning commitment.

The group is preoccupied with bringing in new members.

The group is preoccupied with making money.

Questioning, doubt, and dissent are discouraged or even punished.

Mind-numbing techniques (such as meditation, chanting, speaking in tongues, denunciation sessions, debilitating work routines) are used to suppress doubts about the group and its leader(s).

The leadership dictates sometimes in great detail how members should think, act, and feel (for example: members must get permission from leaders to date, change jobs, get married; leaders may prescribe what types of clothes to wear, where to live, how to discipline children, and so forth).

The group is elitist, claiming a special, exalted status for itself, its leader(s), and members (for example: the leader is considered the Messiah or an avatar; the group and/or the leader has a special mission to save humanity).

The group has a polarized us- versus-them mentality, which causes conflict with the wider society.

The group's leader is not accountable to any authorities (as are, for example, military commanders and ministers, priests, monks, and rabbis of mainstream denominations).

The group teaches or implies that its supposedly exalted ends justify means that members would have considered unethical before joining the group (for example: collecting money for bogus charities).

The leadership induces guilt feelings in members in order to control them.

Members' subservience to the group causes them to cut ties with family and friends, and to give up personal goals and activities that were of interest before joining the group.

Members are expected to devote inordinate amounts of time to the group.

Members are encouraged or required to live and/or socialize only with other group members

If your definition of hell is seperation from god then I am in hell right here and now. And I have to tell you. It is actually very nice. When I was brainwashed into believing in a god that doesn't exist, I was full of guilt and superstition and judgemental attitudes that were based on other people's hatred. Now that I've realized there is no god, things are much better. I can think for myself. I can sleep as late as I want on Sundays. I don't have to give money to a church that just uses it to buy gold and pay for the lawyers of pedophile priests.
Why do people think that saying 'you're going to hell' is such a bad thing? I'll gladly take this for all eternity. Maybe the rest of you should try 'hell'.
