I don't think it's considered ducking. It's more like finding shelter. Why do people run in the rain? With the speed, you're just hitting the rain drops harder and probably end up getting more wet than if you just walked.

I think most people duck their heads because one of the most sensitve skin on your body is between your chest and throat, and a lot of people dont like cold water there. another reason would be, if they spent all morning getting dressed, they want to make sure that the front of them looks good when they get to where they are going. I dont normally dress up, but when I do, it takes me a good hour. I dont want it to look bad after I did all that work...who cares about the back

I just did it last night. haha. I thought maybe if I ducked I wouldnt get wet, but the rain was coming at me from the side. Figures!

That's SIMPLE! Takes a "split-second" longer for each rain drop to hit us, keeping us drier for a short period of time as well as not getting so wet when we do find shelter.

It's just a flinching reaction. If you make a constant conscious effort to keep looking forward, you can do it, or if you spent a large ammount of time in rain, you'd probably become desensitized to it.

I only lower my head so I dont get rain in my eyes. Other then that I love getting rained on........

I think it's just human nature it's just like ducking uder the rotatting rotor on a helicopter,it's not like anyone is tall enough to get hit.Good thought though.
