Every answer will be different because everybody has a different opinion about it. You take it with a grain of salt, whatever you think makes sense to you, then that's what's true about da vinci code. And if there's something that seems to be false to you, well then it's fiction. It's according to your beliefs.

There are probably equal-ish amounts of truth and fiction. The site below is a 'Da Vinci Code Research Guide'. It will help you find the answers you are looking for.

A) Leonardo da Vinci became a actual man or woman. B) The Knights Templar became a actual business organisation. C) The cup whose contents Jesus blessed and surpassed round to His disciples is the "Holy Grail", anyplace that's. D) The Keystone is yet another call for Solomon's Key, a touch bit Kabbalistic arcana. E) A clerk in the archives workplace in Paris, uninterested in his job and dreaming of more desirable issues, made up the "Priory of Sion". It not in any respect existed. F) The e book is an amalgam of countless medieval legends first promulgated after the Capets took the throne of France. It became a desparate attempt to convey decrease back the Merovingian dynasty. did not paintings then, received't paintings now. G) you'll stumble on a much extra exciting examine by getting "Holy Blood, Holy Grail". a minimum of the authors of THAT fairy tale took the problem to do a touch analysis and in the experience that they were slightly a lot less gullible and slightly extra cynical, they could have cleared up the "secret" for solid and all.

Most of the DaVinci Code is just good fiction. A lot of the groups, and ideas are based on reality but Dan Brown definately took a great deal of creative license in all of it. The idea that Jesus was married is not a new one but there is a sad lack of evidence to that fact. The Discovery Channel did an entire series on the DaVinci code that was very insightful. You might be able to find some info on their website.

I agree with John S
Gnostic Gospels is where some of "facts" are based...however, none of that is a part of the Holy Bible. What was written about the Council of Nicaea vote was fiction; in the book he said that the vote was close. If you think a vote that is 300+(for) to 2 (against) is a close vote; well then, it was a close vote.
The Gnostic Gospels were written 200-300 years after Jesus...
Personally, I believe the disciples that were present over someones "thoughts" 200-300 years later that didn't know Jesus and wasn't taught by Jesus...

How can anyone believe anything written in a fiction book, especially from people like Dan Brown? He just wrote book to cash in on people ignorance about God. He cannot be on both sides on fence on this important issue. He cannot state in one interview that everything in his book is true, then turn around in another interview say that he is a Christian after trying to disprove validity as the Messiah and he really did not die on the cross?!!!
It is written, The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. Psalm 53:1
Therefore behold, I am against the [false] prophets, says the Lord, [I am even now descending upon them with punishment, these prophets] who steal My words from one another [imitating the phrases of the true prophets]. Jeremiah 23:30
For false Christs and false prophets will arise, and they will show great signs and wonders so as to deceive and lead astray, if possible, even the elect (God's chosen ones). Matthew 24:24

The locations, art work, some of the organizations, and some of the technology exist. However, the history and goals of the organizations is mostly fictional...despite Dan Brown's claims. The story itself is entirely fictional.

It's all fiction since it's based on the bible. And when you base your book on another book of fiction...
And for the record, it's not good fiction. It's piss-poor at best. The ONLY reason it's gotten so many sales is because of the controversy.
