This has baffled me for some time. First off-- who cares what anyone thinks? Do you care what I think? Do you care who I voted for? Do you care if my kid's on the honor role? Do you care that I'd rather be surfing? Of course not. Are people with these things kidding themselves that anyone else cares?

Secondly, and probably more importantly-- what can come from my using a bumper sticker other than harm? If by chance someone DOES like want I have to promote, they'll smile and move on. But there's a WAY bigger chance that someone will be offended by what I have to say and make me a victim of their road rage.

Last but not least-- they're UGLY as CRAP. I paid GOOD money for the styling and industrial design of my car. Why would I want to put some ugly sticker on it to spoil the lines?

Do you have bumperstickers??? Why???

People just seem to like to ruin big expensive chunks of metal with a little sticky piece of plastic.

Or maybe they apply them so that when they actually have to sell their car or trade it in for a new one they can tear off the bumper sticker and take off a bunch of the paint with the sticker. It's like having a little piece of their car with them forever to remind them of all of the good times they had in that vehicle.

I love bumper stickers, because they keep me from being bored in traffic, it's something to take my mind off all the crap I put up with on the road. I like to laugh at the dumb humor, I find them interesting. I have a bumper sticker on my car that reads "When all the trees are gone, you can wipe your *** on a spotted owl." If you have a crappy car, then it doesn't matter about spoiling the lines or paint.

I find some of them amusing reads for the road, but don't have any myself. Hey, I can't read them while I'm driving anyway!! A friend has some on her car that hint at her sexual orientation, which means that at family gatherings where not everyone knows, she has to jockey her car into a position where the stickers aren't visible! In my opinion bumper stickers are like tattoos for the car - ok to look at, but too permanent for my life!

It's called "PRIDE"... people are whores for attention, so it should be no wonder that they put things on their car to make them stand out from the rest... remember, as the population grows, every individual begins to have feelings of unimportance, so they do things to draw attention to themselves, whether it be to advertise to the world that their kid is a honor roll student, that they voted for George W., etc.

Actually one time a bumper sticker got me out of a sticky situation... I accidentally rear-ended a car in front of me, so we drove to a parking lot where I was fully expecting them to take my information down and file a claim... but I was using a particular insurance company at the time whose logo was a white dove, and I had this logo fixed to the window of my car... when the other party saw the sticker they pointed it out to me, assumed I was a Christian or something and said it was okay and they left. Weird!

I use the magnet, plastic or rubber stickers. Like support our troops etc. I am a veteran seeing nothing wrong with that. That's why I use them. I am proud to support my country, soldiers with anything to show I care. They do not scratch my car or anything. Wake up there is a world out here that does support troops and kids who make the honor roll.. Don't read the stickers if you detest them so much. It's a choice of reading or not reading.
Not being distasteful here, just being honest.

I have one. It says "Bumper sticker" then give the wiki definition.
Why? because it is funny and supported wiki.

By the way my car and sticker are both the same shade of white. It doesn't look bad

I don't drive a nice car either. I have other things to spend money on than a depreciating car.

I do not have bumper stickers on my current vehicle, but I have in the past. There are a number of reasons for them, including announcing an affiliation with a particular group (i.e. abortion activist, cancer survivor, masonic temple, etc). Others like to share their brand of humor (which I truly appreciate when stuck in traffic).

Of course, in the case of my last car, the bumper stickers were the only thing holding it together. :-)

Although I never put one on my car, I really don't care what anybody else does. It's a free country and people can do whatever they want. Plus sometimes some of those stickers put a smile on my face...have never gotten angry when I disagree with one...i.e., Bush/Cheney stickers, life is too short to worry about other peoples business.

OK, take a deep breath for a minute. I wasn't particularly worried about road rage, but after reading your tirade, I hope I'm never driving around you.

I like bumper stickers. It expresses individuality. And it's a better way to do it than piercing every living surface of the body.

Oh! and I especially love the funny ones! It makes my commute more tolerable. I saw one the other day that I'm still laughing about. Belly laughs.

It said:

"Jesus loves you.
Everyone else thinks you're an @**%%%%. "

Tee-hee-hee!! I'm totally religious and that's still funny to me!

I don't have bumper stickers because my DH thinks exactly about them as you do. I personally think that a car is just a car, it's not supposed to be a status symbol, so why not buy a cheap car with a decent engine and make it a fashion statement instead? Plus, the bumper itself is just that, just a bumper. Anyway that's just me.
