what really gets my back up is that there are so many people who call themselves a christian, but they do not practice what is preached in church on a sunday. I was brought up in a christian family, and those values i was taught, eg to love your brother as yourself, help those who are in need, and i'm not a selfish person....then would it not be fair to say i could enter the kingdom of heaven just by the good deeds i do, or is it true that because i dont go to church every sunday to praise his name, i am condemed for hell?...because i worship God, every day and count my blessings, the only difference is it is not in church.....my heart is my church, and why is it so many people have to blaze another human being about their beliefs, this alone in gods eyes is wrong....whatever name we call him by, we must know there is only one god, but let me know, can i still be called a christian if i dont attend church every sunday?.

Me too....and yes. You are still a Christian even if you attend church once a year. It's all in the heart. Once you are saved, as in you call Jesus as your Lord and Savior and you truly believe in him, then it doesn't matter if you never step a foot into church your entire life.

My father never went to church when were growing up, but he would pray with us, and thank God for all tha the had done for him. You know there is only one God....and even if you don't go to church all the time...you still love him. And he loves you. Your name is written in the lamb's book of life....all is required of you is to believe and obey his commandments (and try to spread his word!).

yes you can still be a christian if you do not attend church, dont forget the church is the people not the bulding. I think that there is so much temptation in the world today, satan's power is at its maximum and human beings being the critical beings that they are only see peoples faults and not their positive traits, people are so quick to criticise and pass remark upon someone else's faith. Personally I would also critisise some preachers, I know that in a few churches I have been to the Pastors seem preoccupied with saving numbers (and rightfully so in these, the last days) rather than arming God's current children with adequate defenses they require against today's society. At the end of the day, Faith and belief is the most important thing and Christ will come very soon so preachers are at a frenzy to spread the word instead of delving deaper into the word of God.

Ya don't get to heaven by walking through the church doors. You simply have to grow up if you go there long enough. Because if you attend any church you will find them filled with imperfect people. And sometimes that is messy, and unpleasant. You have to grow up and walk in grace for others and your own failings. No one or church gets it right all the time.

The only way to heaven is Jesus. That fundamental truth you already know. But what you really believe is clear to see in your actions. If you steal, you believe that theft is ok. You can say that you don't think stealing is right, but if you steal, you testify that you believe stealing in right by your actions. Your actions would be speaking the truth and not your words.

You will not be condemned to Hell for not attending the church, but you probably won't grow up in to the person God want you to be. Think you ought to find a church and try and make it a better place. And in doing that you may just find that God is not about what you do, but that He love you whether you do or not.

The kingdom of heaven is within you, and religion is a man-made set of rules necessary to run any large organisation. The ten commandments are pretty good moral compass points we can measure ourselves against. Going to church every sunday is committment to a particular community of people who are like minded and if you believe in your particular religion, you should honour that committment and attend, after all, if everyone gave up going to church, then there would be no community of belief. A church congregation also donates to help with the upkeep, overheads etc of the building, and if no-one attended, there would be no means to maintain the building where people congregate together. I dont think u would burn in hell, but if your faith is strong, you are missing valuable time with "brothers and sisters" of your faith, that if u put some effort in to getting to know them could result in friendships that u would otherwise miss out on. After all, is that not the core of any religion - to offer the hand of friendship? I hope this helps u look at ur dilemma in a different light.

You are making some very valid points here. And unfortunately what is preached in churches every Sunday has very little to do with Christianity and with Jesus either.
Modern organised Christianity is far removed from the ideas and teachings of the Lord, and if Jesus came back today, he would neither recognise the Churches named after him, nor would he want to be associated with them.
There are worlds between the true path and the doctrines of the established Churches and congregations. But Jesus foresaw it already when he told his disciples that many would claim to come in his name, but that they would be wolves in sheep's clothings. Well, our churches are full of those wolves. And I am truly disgusted with the hypocrisy of organised Christianity.
So I am no longer attending any church services, and since I am away from the abomination, I am closer to God than I ever was before. One can be with God and talk to him at any time and in any place, if one's heart and mind is in it. No need for churches and priests. That was the real message of Jesus, and it still is.

I understand what you are trying to say, but don't put your heart on the church, cause you are the church. Put your trust in God and don't look at those that are not doing what they are suppose to do, worry for yourself becauser speaking of them might end you up lost like them. It is not us to judge the church, cause what benefit are you getting from it, but having other trip as well. Pray for them and encourage them to do what is good, beside pointing your fingers at them is a harsh thing. Even if we are Christians, we are not supposed to judge anyone, unless if we have witness of wrong they with 2 or three more person. Then you call the pastor and the elders of the church and talk about it, if they don't listen, then tell the whole church up front. Other wise, with no witness, you have condemn yourself.

I tell you this because I love you, so you don't end u like them.
Have a blessing day.

There may be people at church who talk the Christian talk but who don't walk the walk -- perhaps all of us are guilty of that from time to time, at least to some extent.

But if I were you, I wouldn't let this become a reason for you not to go to church. I wouldn't let others' transgressions (whatever they are) become your "out" for not going to church.

We are creatures of God, and the first duty of every creature with a soul (that would be us) is to worship our Creator.

That's why "keep holy the Sabbath day" is so high up on the list of the Ten Commandments. It even comes before the commandment that prohibits murder. That's how serious the obligation to worship God in community is.

Faith without works is dead. But to answer your question; statement, no one is perfect, not even christians. God isn't looking for perfect people, just people.

As far as attending church? The more you go, the better. You are around hopefully, bible believing folks, and you need that edification, or building up and recharging your system. If you don't go to church and your reason is that you don't need to to be close to God, yet you just do you own thing and not worship him, then you are not going for the wrong reasons.

There are some people, who by reason of force can't go to church, or even read a bible. But they pray, and seek his guidance. That is different. I believe that if you have the chance to go to church, go. Am I guilty of not going all the time? Sure. But I do feel bad when I don't go.

Just talk to God about it, and pray before you read the bible. You can talk to me, anytime on here. Take care.

Why do you need to enter any building to pray? The purpose of praying together is for support, but you can do that anywhere. There are many who say they're Christian, as if that makes them better than others, but you are right- they are just jerks, which isn't very "Christian". People say, "That isn't very Christian of you" when someone does/says something nasty, but Christians did many nasty things over the centuries, in the NAME of Christianity, so what is a Christian? If you are a good person, isn't that enough? Why divide the population by religion?

You are a Christian if you have repented of your sins and accepted Jesus as Lord of your life, at the moment you give your life to Him, you are saved and assured your place with Him for eternity. Good works on their own will not get you anywhere! Jesus said that on 'that day' (judgment day) not everyone who calls on His name will be saved because they didn't really know Him during their lifetime. It's your heart God looks at! As for church, in the book of Acts, the early church used their gifts to build up other believers, they were a true family, giving to the needy and all the other stuff that is a natural reaction of knowing Jesus. Jesus came to save but to give us His church so we could know the joy of fellowship with other Christians, you miss so much if you don't go to a good, spirit-led church. As for people who don't follow the teachings of Jesus, maybe some of them aren't true Christians but they don't realise it, maybe some of them never had the benefit of good teaching in their homes or churches. Instead of getting irate, try doing what Jesus taught us to do - pray for them and gently encourage them!
