It's like, someone prays for patience or whatever and then they work on being more patient. Then they give God credit for it?

Or a church group does something nice--say they build a house for some poor family--and then say the house came from God.

Why?

We always talk about how we dont care what people think about us or say about us, right? So why is it that when someone says something negative about you, it still affects you?

There are a few theists that whine and complain that we shouldn't come in if we don't believe in god. Well, if we didn't come here, what would you talk about?

"I love god a whole heck of a lot, how about you????"
Then 20 people saying
"Yes, I love Jesus. He's great."
Just imagine that over and over again.
BORING.

If anything you should be thanking us for coming here and making you think about your religious beliefs. You can think of it either two ways - either we are challenging your beliefs and you might (just maybe) start to see things in a new way, or you might stick to your guns and feel reassured in your 'faith'. (As absurd as I find that idea.) Either way, you win. Would shutting us out make things better for you?

How many of you came from deeply religious families, and how did you "come out" to them? I'm planning on telling my mom at some point that I've given up on religion, but she's somewhat fanatical. I don't think she'll disown me or anything, but I really don't want to argue with her.

Why is it that when a Muslim, Hindu, Budhist, etc. say that their religion is the only way, they are just devout, but when a Christian says that Jesus is the only way, they are an intolerant, religous fanatic?

Have you ever met someone over an Internet dating site or chatline who totally misrepresented himself/herself? For example, they say they're 25 and you show up and they are really 59...What was the discrepancy and what did you do about it?

Hello, this is a legitimate inquiry with those who are involved in Scientology.

Is Scientology, for you, a religious belief (including the doctrine of Xenu's destruction of countless beings, creating chatoic souls on the planet that take the form of engrams).

Or is Scientology more of a lifestyle practice for you (things such as proper nutrition, silent childhood practices, abstinence from certain pharmaceuticals)?

I am very interested and very curious. Please no mockey or commentary on whether or not Scientology is legitimate.

White bread was always condemned as being less nutritious. Did you have the same experience? Do you as adults, buy white bread anyway and compensate with lots of peanut butter and jelly?

I'm curious, whenever I read fiction books by Christian authors that reference the antichrist (mostly the Left Behind series, but there are others), he is always coming out of Europe. It doesn't so much say the country specifically, and I don't believe the Bible gives any real reference to which specific country he'll come from, but somewhere along the lines these authors are getting the idea that he'll be of European descent. Can someone explain why, I would like the scripture(s) they are using to arrive at the conclusion that he'll be European.
