White bread was always condemned as being less nutritious. Did you have the same experience? Do you as adults, buy white bread anyway and compensate with lots of peanut butter and jelly?

I only buy whole wheat bread. If it doesn't say whole wheat, then it isn't whole wheat. A lot of bread says wheat bread, and looks like whole wheat bread, but if it doesn't say whole wheat it isn't whole wheat. I never eat regular wheat bread (white or dark). The only reason white bread is nutritious at all is because it is enriched with vitamins and iron, and it has very little, (if any) fiber. If I need more vitamins and iron, I will just take some vitamin and mineral supplements.

White bread is made of WHEAT, some people think its only brown bread made of wheat.

Brown bread contains less iron than white bread, so you shouldn't eat brown bread all the time.

I ate nothing but brown bread years ago and became anaemic so the doc told me to alternate brown with white. Whole grain white is the best bread you can eat.

If withal one is to have a nutritious diet then the whole thing must be taken into consideration. Not simply one staple, although in ancient times bread was considered ' the staff of life.'

It's a thing one must educate oneself thereto. In ancient times our diet would be considered utter nonsense, we'd be weaklings, for; the people of those days were much more 'rough and ready'.

White bread and other processed forms of grains/pasta like plain white spaghetti, etc are basically just refined sugar. They'll fill you up, but really no nutritional value. To your body they are the same as eating a spoonful of sugar.
