Have you ever met someone over an Internet dating site or chatline who totally misrepresented himself/herself? For example, they say they're 25 and you show up and they are really 59...What was the discrepancy and what did you do about it?

it happened to me once, and It will never happen again.

I was a senior inhigh school and this dude was in his freshman year of college. he told me her worked part time in computers and that he was always traveling out of town. Once he could no longer keep on witht he lies and confessed that he was a girl.

The first time I spoke to him/her my first reaction was , you sound liek a girl, or like a14 year old kid, he said, Oh I'm not a big guy or anything, and I guess I don't have such a deep voice.
On the phone he would always call at late hours , where your voice tends to be deeper or rougher.

When she confessed, I kinda felt betrayed, but at the same time, I was curious to know if it was true. I started asking, girly questions like, bra sizes and period questions, finally, I gave itn, I wanted to be friends with her, but, oddly enough, as a guy i had liked him. So I gave in to my curiosity, and must say that was the worst time of my life.

Finally I left the country cuz she bugged too much, and when i came back she had partially moved on, she liked to call and tell me if she had anyone, but finally i just prayed and prayed for forgiveness, and asked God to get her away from me.

Well, I've never met a person from the internet for dating purposes. But I know I used to go into the lesbian chat rooms, and constantly get messages from guys pretending to be lesbians. That sucked. Not that I wouldn;t talk to a guy but they only wanted to hear lesbian sex stories lol. Even worse was when they actually put up a good front, then invited me to see their cam to "see what they looked like" only to find some guy touching hinself. Like dude, get a life.

Hell yes. The person may be very different than they pass themselve off to be. I can only assume that with 50 rejections comes on acceptance...otherwise, they would stop. My reaction is, if they completely misrepresent themselves on line, appear at my door as something very different, and that 'very different' is not appealing to me, then it is "no thanks, you are not what I was expecting." and I shut the door in their face...that is what they deserve. On the other hand, some times, something shows up at the door that is, in many ways, better than what I expected, just in a different package, and I make the decision then and there....no big deal. Good luck.

Many have been deceived. Sometimes people misrepresent themselves in many ways. Sometimes people ask questions and when someone gives them an honest answer, they get upset...because they really are trying to deceive those answering the questions. Sometimes people really don't want to live the truth or hear the truth.

Yes and it is really discouraging isn't it. And there isn't any way to stop it is there? I was on Yahoo Personals and after one month I had enough of it. It goes both ways too though. Some of the guys didn't believe me and my information/photos even though I was being 99.9% honest:)
