Feel free to explain this custom, for married and unmarried, and if it differs from Island to Island. (Pacifically speaking)(pun intended)

Does anyone have any concrete reasons why most people believe the great tribulation to last 7 years? Why do we convert Daniel's 70th week into years? I am a rock solid Christian and a firm believer that the Bible is God's word. I am just running in circles with this issue and why we believe that the rapture preceeds the tribulation. Also, why does Jesus tell his disciples that these things would take place in their generation in Mat 24? I am interested in good feedback from Christians who are well grounded in the word. Thanks.

Why do we think we will get a rational conversation with a theist about God?

This is like speaking to my son about Santa Claus. My son asks Santa for presents. There are Christmas presents. My son has seen stories on television and seen books and seen Santa at the mall. To my son Santa is real.

But if I ask a child who believes in Santa how is Santa able to get to every house in one night, or how is it that children of rich parents get more/better gifts then children of poor parents, how could I expect to get any sort of intelligent response.

Are we as atheists and agnostics jealous of religious persons believe in something magical and mythological, and that we find ourselves reading their answers to our questions with a hope and fascination like we do when we ask our child, what do you want Santa to bring to you this year?

his belief is that this is not technically a car accident since no other car was involved...and plans to plead innocent... what do you think his chances are of the judge smacking him upside his head?

At least after all the sinning of the first 30 pages you can be 'redeemed' at the end.

Apparently, this would be your place to say "I believe in God". So, my question would be: what section on Yahoo Answers would be appropriate for us, non-believers, to state we don't believe in God, if coming here sounds to some of you as though we were insulting you? I don't suppose you'd expect us not to be able to say anywhere what we think, right?

That is, does God see the entire future? I've asked 2 ministers this and gotten 2 different answers. The first one said yes, God sees everything including the future and knows what will happen ahead of time.
The second minister said that God CAN know the future, but often chooses NOT TO. That is, he doesn't wan't to know what will happen all the time.

Here's the issue: If we believe that God DOESN'T always look into the future, that means he doesn't always KNOW what will happen. That's kind of unsettling.
If however we believe that God DOES always know the future, that means that he knows what we'll do before we do it, and that means that all the times in the Bible that speaks of Him 'testing' us
is a problem. If he knows what we'll do before we do it, testing us makes no sense. If He knew in advance that Abraham would be willing to sacrifice Isaac and that his faith was pure, it makes no sense to test him. If he knew Eve would eat the apple, why tell her not to? Wheres the test?

If something claiming to be a Christian has hurt you then I can see why you would be jaded and/or hurt. If you have what you consider valid reasons for your disrespect and sarcasm then do the 1st Amendment thing until you're blue in the face. But if you know nothing of Christianity and you're talking out of ignorance, please educate yourself before you start talking. The cynicism and Jesus quips get old after a while when they constantly flow from ignorant mouths.

Accept people, places and things for what they are, not what we "want" them to be. Can we accept, and learn from the rational, or irrational, minds of all who think? Can we be the change we wish to see in the world? Peace and Love

I think we can.
