Try this little experiment at home:
Sit in an absolutely quiet room devoid of distractions.
Speak your name out loud. Hear your own voice.
Repeat your name as many different ways are you can.
Call out to yourself as if you were calling a friend from across the street, or in a crowded room.
Whisper your name. Yell your name.
Continue repeating your name over and over again -in as man ways and volumes as you can.
Suddenly you find that you've never called you by your own name. It seems strange, doesn't it? Someone should answer, but who? You?
The feeling you get is personal disassociation. Who is it that's call you? Why aren't they answering?
As this feeling intensifies, you'll feel more and more disconnected and confused.
To end the confusion and the cycle, call out your name one last time, then say, "I'm coming" or "Just a second", or "Be right there!" That will bring you back.
So, my question. Does this same thing work when you say "God"?
