.. or does it just not care? There seems to be an extreme lack of awareness and an increase of "it doesn't apply to me". Lots of ambivalence, and stupid stupid answers to the questions on this sight. Or am I wrong?

Powerful stuff coming from someone who wrote "sight" instead of "site."

Not getting dumber ... just getting far too many people in general ( smart and stupid ). With regards to ambivalence, there were never two more ambivalent eras than the 1960's and the 1980's. The primary difference here is internet access - the only people we came into contact with in the past were the people we saw face to face. Now we "converse" with complete strangers from all over the country and the world, which gives us more probable exposure to both the very intelligent and the very inane.

Add to the mix the fact that it's summer and there are a lot of really bored kids out of school whose brains are scrambling for something to think about. They have the power these days to voice those weird thoughts ( that we've ALL had ) without fear of public humiliation or reprisal from parents or peers.

There's a quote, but I'm not sure where it came from:

"The more things change, the more they stay the same."

The world isn't getting dumber, just the people who inhabit it. Seriously I think at any given time you could probably always look back at how things were in the past and think "The world was better then" There's plenty of stupidity to go around now but then again there probably always was, just not so many ways to witness it. In the "good old days" it was just less obvious because there wasn't as much material to sift through.

People in the US are, that's for sure. Ask a teenager where the United States of America is at on a map? Most will not know where it is located. Or, ask any aged person to name the first ten presidents of the United States of America. This will only embarrass them. I agree with you, it's quite a shame.

no longer unavoidably the international finished of idiots, yet... We use the pcs (machines), even the dummies like me. after we study a revealed note in a e book or a guide an average human being keeps about seventy 5% of the assistance. If we study the visual reveal unit, we would ought to deduct yet another 25% or so. therefore, we are in a position to maintain about 50% of what we study. The language that we use in our automatic correspondence is atrocious. plenty human beings do no longer even comprehend a thanks to write down in cursive. some can no longer study cursive. If we write, about 60% human beings do no longer use cursive, we print if we ought to write down some thing. pcs (the machines) are exceedingly a lot questioning for us. If we loose the potential to imagine, we are able to loose the potential to create. No, we are no longer transforming into idiots. yet we are loosing individuality to an recommendations-blowing quantity. we are slowly shifting to transforming into a Borg society. (save in recommendations the enormous call Trek?)

Yes, the world is getting dumber, and more lazy too. I believe it's because of all the new technology that just keeps getting more and more advanced... therefore, we have to do less things. I'm not complaining, I just agree that we are, indeed, getting more stupid and lazy.

Yes the world is getting dumber, but as the numbers of dumbasses builds up they will inevitably use up their resources and die out. Evolution in action!
