I get it enough to question my otherwise staunch scientific outlook on life.

I'm so afraid of drowning. I always get freaked out when I go into deep water or whenever I have to swim. I've taken so many swimming lessons before but they've never really helped. I can somewhat swim but still I have this terrible fear. I think it might be related to events that happened to me during my childhood. I'm currently doing this HORRIBLE swimming unit in gym and now I dread going to school everyday! I'll always stop in the middle of the pool because I get too freaked out to keep going, and then end up half-drowning (so I think). There is no way my gym teacher would ever understand and I would never have the time/money to see a professional. Please, any help out there??

I've been with my boyfriend for about a year and half and things have been amazing for most of that time. He's the sweetest, most thoughtful, caring, lovable, affectionate and protective guy I know.He treats me like a queen. He was also physically and emotionally abused as a child by his dad. He's never shown any abusive traits whatsoever and would pretty much die before he'd ever lay a hand on me.

Last Friday we went clubbing and some guy started flirting with me.Out of no where my boyfriend showed up and decked him.I though he was just acting jealous and got incredibly pissed off at him. When we got back to my place he was trying to explain to me that he saw the guy spike my drink, the same guy that was trying to flirt with me but I wouldn't let him.I accused him of being just like his dad and that just about killed him. He's never told anyone about the abuse but me.He told me why he did it,walked out and hasn't spoken to me since. What can I do to fix this?Have I done the unforgiveable?

Ross? I have heard a lot about her and would love to find out more. I have read some of her articles and found them fascinating and I would love to read some more. Her knowledge on reincarnation just about blew my mind, and her writings on karma and retribution just clicked in to place
as to why we are all here. Dr Ross was the Medical Director of the Family Service and Mental Health Center of South Cook County in Illinois and a brilliant Consultant Psychiatrist.

I am the WORST procrastinator EVER! Especially when i have a LOT of homework, i dread doing it and leave it off until like 9:30 at night! I just cant help it! its eating me away... any tips on how not to procrastinate?

(by the way for me, its harder than it sounds... so please no obvious answers like 'get off the computer and do your homework' because really, its easier said than done!)

So yesterday a friend of mine left a comment on her myspace saying that he thinks I'm going to ask her out. At the time she didn't really say anything about it. Today when I was talking to her she said my friend told her that everything he said was true. I told her that I really liked her but I told her that my friend said that she told him she didnt want me to ask her out. She said that she actually told him it would be weird for me to ask her out because I knew that she just wanted to be friends... although until then I didn't know she just wanted to be friends lol. Anyways does it sound like she does want me to ask her out or should I be taking her seriously and she does just want to be friends... I mean she was the one who brought it up... should I just try to get over her and just be friends, or should I be asking her out?

Why do people who answer the questions bash the asker and assume the question is personal to the asker? Do people realise that some questions are just a retorical one and that name calling and bashing is not called for?
Why do people instanly stab those thru the heart in others because they are so damn bitter in life?

Im 14 and very skinny. I eat alot, more than alot of my friends, and I get alot of rude comments about how skinny, I am and that im a tooth pick, or are anerexic. It hasn't really got to me, except for lately, because thats all I've been hearing lately. LIke on t.v. they are talking about how skinny is out, and that the new beautiful is to be fat. There like dont starve yourself, and make fun of people that are skinny, and say that fat is beatiful, and about how models, and girls starve them selves, and they don't know that not only does it affect people that are to skinny, because they starve themselves, but it also insults people like me, who don't starve them selves, but can't help it. I also don't get why people will be like aw your like a tooth pick, or will be like oh my gosh you TOO skinny, but dont say a thing about people who are TOO fat. Alot of people are like oh well their just jealous, it still gets to me that people will do this to people who are like me, but not too big.

So awhile ago, I'm out with my friends and Court TV is playing in the background at the bar. We all watch when this smoking hot blonde is shown at a press conference. It's a woman named Debra Lafave out of Florida who's 25 years old and was arrested for having sex with a 14 year old male student (link to a picture of her and the story below).

We'd been drinking, so of course, so we joke about how this kid must be the luckiest SOB to walk the planet, etc. But I digress.

The question: why is the female teacher off the hook for "having sex with" a 9th grade male student, but if the genders were reversed, it would be "molesting"? How damaged is the boy really (I'm trying to remember being 14...seriously, I think I'd be OK...)? Or is a double-standard OK in instances like these (and if so, why?)? I think of a 14 year old girl and a 25 year old man and I get queasy and want to kick the guy's @$$, but why don't we have that same reaction when it's hot teacherette/boy student?
