Here's one tip: When the urge to eat emotionally comes on, train yourself (think of it as forcing yourself if that helps) to have a gigantic glass of ice water and do yoga-type stretching and hold the stretches for a considerable amount of time. The water will fill your stomach temporarily and will quench your thirst which may override the desire to munch. The urge to munch may pass - you have to give it at least 10 minutes or so.
If the emotional eating is extremely out of your control, talk to a good shrink with good "bedside manner" and research the possibility of medication but only if the emotional eating is extreme and you have other symptoms of anxiety/depression whether mild or severe.
Also, try to train your body/mind to eat when you are hungry. You don't want to NOT eat and make yourself go hungry. Everybody needs food and you should be able to enjoy it. It takes time to get to this state of mind so be patient.

As an emotional eater, I don't think it can be "resolved".
However, you can replace the behavior with positive behaviors. Here's what I do:
ride the exercise bike, go for a long walk, call a friend for support. Make a list of things you like to do and do one or more. It's best to do things that are good for you.

Keep a food journal. Write down what you eat, the time and date you eat it and how you are feeling. Then look at the emotions and find ways to better deal with them. Lonely - call a friend or family member, write a letter to someone letting them know you're thinking of them. Angry - physical activity, punch a pillow, tear paper up. Sad - warm bath, funny movie, whatever cheers you up. Bored - knit, do a puzzle, practice a new skill, etc.

locking the fridge would be a good idea.
but seriously,
having someone to help you is really great. to remind you that you should eat only when you need it not when you want it.
