I have really weird bad thoughts how do I get rid of them?
I think about bed bugs and having them and having head lice
and getting bit by bugs and that my mom is gonna die
How do I not think about these things ?

It has practical uses. Like urban legends- sticking your back to a black window is not something I am willing to do in a dark house with creepy company.

In a fight, whether in some sort of RPG or reality, I will try and put my back to a corner so less of me is exposed to attack and I can see all of my enemies at once. From what I've read, it seems most people would rather stand in the middle of a room and let themselves be surrounded, but that seems entirely impractical to me. I would gladly give up freedom of movement if it meant not being attacked from behind. Am I the only one who thinks this? What would you do in the same sort of scenarios?

I understand survival and the survival instinct well enough, but I wanted to know why it was built into all of creation, from the tiniest bacteria to the most complexed organisms on the planet (id est, us). Please think hard about this one. Why will any living organism do anything and everything it can in order to survive?

I mean, it's a great story, but any serious consideration of the evidence renders it utterly flawed (eg: http://www.100megsfree4.com/farshores/nasamoon.htm) and it becomes apparent that of course the moon landings took place. So what motivates folks to WANT to believe it so much?

I’ve known her for 19 years and she has hardly ever said a word. She comes to see me with her mum and her mum speaks for her. When she does speak, she can be quite nasty. Her whole life is spent reading books, and she works part-time. She has no manners. When I speak to her on the phone, she gives minimal information of herself, but asks me all questions and I reply thoroughly. I know she is ‘all there’ in the mind, but for some reason she is a walking corpse! I just don’t know what to do about her anymore. I'd love to get inside her mind and work out why she's the way she is. I wonder if she's rebellious or something? Or does she feel 'powerful' by not giving anything away of herself?

I recently had 5 readings from 5 different people that say they have the gift to see things. All of the readings basically were the same!! Can it be believable, especially if these people do not know each other.

exactly at sunrise one morning, a buddhist monk set out to climb a tall mountain. The narrow path was not more than a foot or two wide, and it wound around the mountain to a beautiful glittering temple at the mountain peak. the monk climbed the path at varying rates of speed. he stopped many times along the way to rest and to eat the fruit he carried with him. he reached the temple just before sunser. at the temple, he fasted and meditated for several days. the he began his journey back along the same path, startin at sunrise and walking, as before, at variable speeds with many stops along the way. however his average speed gaoin down the hill was greater than his average climbing speed. prove that there must be a spot along the path that the monk will pass on both trips at exactly the same time of day

Some people have a very strong conscious mind which can make all the connections necessary for criticial and abstract thinking. Is it possible that someone could not have such a conscious mind but could be subconsciously genius making all the connections without being able to consciously describe them?

My Marriage is in trouble. I believe we need counseling and reluctantly my hubby has agreed to go. Problem? Not many Marriage/Family Therapist to choose from in our insurance plan. Should we see a clinical psychologist or other specialist in this field or stick with the few choices (no males) in our area who are specifically Marriage/Family Therapist?
Thanks so much for your answers and feel free to go into detail about different marriage counseling choices if you want to share.

The other day my dad actually had the nerve to ask me why, if I love and respect him so much, I don't want to be just like him?? Yes, he was serious! I told him I don't want to be his clone and he said don't state the obvious. He has a Master's degree and is very bright and is a devout Christian. I don't want to be the type to tell people their going to Hell or that they're not really a Christian...lol. There's other things too that I don't want to be like him. What's wrong with him that he would be so arrogant to seriously think that love and respect equals copying him 100%?

I don't know what to do. I want to go to a music school for beign a musician, I get people telling me to go for it, but what i'm afraid of is failure. How can I overcome this impending feeling. The reason I don't go for it is because I doubt myself, and doubt my abilities. Is this normal? I think i'm good, people tell me I sound good, I just don't know. Should I just forget about it, and do something else? This is really eating away at me.

Today when I went to the laundry mat, I was folding some of my clothes. I had a basket full. The rest of my clothes were dry but I didn't have any place to put them except on the folding table. I don't like to use the folding table because I'm afraid that there might be some communicable disease that will get on my clothes and then be passed on to me or my kids. So, I fold my clothes in the basket that I bring from home. The laundry mat was pretty busy. all of the dryers were in use. This lady came up to me and asked if the clothes in the dryer belonged to me. When I said yes, she asked if she could help me take them out so that she could use the dryer. I told her no and then explained that I didn't like to put them on the table. She said that she was in a hurry to pick her son up from school and that she noticed that I had been there for 45 minutes folding my clothes. I told her that I like to make sure that I get all the seams matching and stuff. dryer. this escalated into an argument where the manager told me that I couldn't come back because I tipped the trash can over on purpose. But, I was so upset that she was trying to impose her will on me. Thats why I kicked the trash can over. This is the only laundry mat in town. what can I do?
