Neither is more accurate than the other. But if you subscribe to an optimistic view you will have a lot more fun in your life.

Neither: Pessimism is taking a negative and falsely distorted view of reality. Optimism is taking a falsely distorted over enthusiastically positive
view of reality.
Optimism is preferred as a philosophical view, because it has a constructive, and active slant on reality, it pushes the individual in a productive direction; whereas a pessimistic view is usually accompanied by dejection, inactivity, and destruction.
Also, a positive view compensates for the natural human tendency to feel insecure, fearful and hesitant in life

I think the closest thing to 'accuracy' lies right smack in the middle of what you call 'pessimism' and 'optimism'.

The middle ground is called 'Honesty'.

It is entirely possible to see the world in an honest light. Seeing the downside but also seeing the opportunities and the positive aspects of life.

Choosing to be neither purely pessimistic or completely optimistic is where you decide to just see life for what it is. Some things and people in this world are in fact very, very beneficial. On the other hand some people and things are very very detrimental! Then there's those things and people that are just mediocre - neither completely good nor completely bad - just a splash of grey.

To say you should be 'pessimistic' or 'optimistic' suggests that we need to be one or the other. We don't. We have the choice to be honest, truthful and open to reality, whatever form it takes.

I think the best way to look at the world is with your eyes wide open, being aware of both sides of the coin, accepting mediocrity as part of life, and that grey is in fact neither black or white, but it still exists. We cannot expect everything to fall within one of the two camps of attitude.

Ideally we want to be prepared for what life throws at us. We want our 'answer' ready, and our defenses in place. We dont want our world-view to let us down. But at the end of the day, life around us does the most unexpected thing and we are left to just accept it. Don't bind yourself up in deciding whether you need to be 'pessimistic' or 'optimistic'. Be neither - just be 'open'! The Honest world-view will never let you down.

All the best!

Optimism helps find at a undertaking certainly. If the situation is such that we won't be able to quantify the parameters in terms of its fee and consequence factor, optimisms helps in reinforcing your theory and have confidence on your inner strengths , capitalise on your previous reports and finally convert all and sundry of those unknowns and intangibles right into a fulfillment. yet i won't agree that optimism could carry approximately playing. playing is a get away mechanism out of frustration to get rapid fulfillment and it gets into greater frustration. on an identical time pessimism won't be correlated to hedging. Hedging is sturdy device to a limited amplify to guard the threat you're taking in forward and thoughts by ability of doing balancing act. This works appropriate theoretically and to a limited volume almost , yet you have seen the way it has failed miserably interior the financial disaster. Non withstanding your correlation between optimism and playing , i could say optimism is often effectual. It induces positivism. It energises those faculties of your thoughts which make you think of creatively , think of laterally , think of of a few answer that are greater advantageous than out of field ideas. at last your advantageous attitudes has sturdy consequence on your psychology , thoughts , thoughts and subsequently the physique and each little thing works in music and synchronisation in direction of victory.

If you look at the world in 100 year increments, it always improves century to century. Innovations and inventions are always being created that make life better and/or easier. Of course there are places where dictators make things worse, but in the grand scheme of things, things get better. I would not want the standard of living people had 40 years ago much less last century.

Optimism.

Which is more important, an accurate view? or happiness and serenity. If the latter, then I say optimism and gratitude.
