I don't know what to do. I want to go to a music school for beign a musician, I get people telling me to go for it, but what i'm afraid of is failure. How can I overcome this impending feeling. The reason I don't go for it is because I doubt myself, and doubt my abilities. Is this normal? I think i'm good, people tell me I sound good, I just don't know. Should I just forget about it, and do something else? This is really eating away at me.

Alot of people have self-doubt when stepping into something new. Your expectations of yourself are really high obviously.
First of all, you need to do it no matter what your feeling. Just because you're nervous doesn't mean you can't do it. It just means you're nervous. End of story.
Secondly, once you start the music school program, you will realise that you have built it up to be something huge in your mind. Once you start actually taking part and being involved in it, it levels out and becomes normal life. Right now you are thinking too much about it and building it up to be this massive deal. It's not - we all do things that interest us. Just get on with it.
Thirdly, allow yourself to fail. You will not be perfect at everything you do, nobody is. Everyone experiences failure at some point. Just accept it and learn from your mistakes. Failure is not something to fear, it is part of being human. Absolutely nobody is perfect.
You'll be perfectly fine - but get a grip of yourself. Find some other hobbies to do as well. If you make Music School and 'becoming a musician' your sole interest in life, you block out alot of other interesting and exciting experiences. Think about other things that you like to do as well and occupy your mind with those things until you start your school.
No need to be flipping out about it. Seriously.
Good luck!

If it's not a school that you have to audition for then it won't matter how good you are when you get there...you can work hard to really become the best. That part is up to you. If you do have to audition they will let you know if you are good enough by accepting you or not. Just go. It always is scary in the beginning. After a few days you will fit right in and wonder what you were worried about to begin with. Best of luck, but I'm sure you won't need it.

How will you know that your not good enough if you don't try? Let's say you go to school and don't make it, so what? You will be right back to the place you are now , then you can do something else. But if you never give it a chance, you won't know if you are sucessful or not. So go for it!!!! The only way to learn things is by our mistakes, if we never fail we won't ever learn . Good luck.

I think you should go for it! I'm 36 years old and just started college after being out for 18 years and I was terrified!!! I also doubted myself. I have a 93 average and now have the self confidence I need to succeed. So I say GO FOR IT!!!!!
And GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!

I think you should do what is in your heart... having said that it is completely normal to doubt your abilities in things, it is completely normal to be insecure about yourself... i say DON'T give up, just keep your head up, and keep up with the practice, if you know your good and people tell you, you sound good, odds are you ARE good!! don't give up on yourself because you are insecure about being good, practice makes perfect, and you can do anything you put your mind to. You are what you make yourself out to be, if you plan on failing from the beggining you will fail, if you keep telling yourself you can do it, and really believe that you can do it, then there is NO one to stand in your way... belive in yourself and you WILL achieve your goals... Good luck with your future...

Do you want to go through your life always thinking "I could have been...? Regrets build up fast in life, and are slowly forgotten. GO. try, attempt, give it your best. If you don't make it, you're only a failure if you fail to learn a life lesson from falling short of your goal. These life lessons are what enable us to succeed eventually.

If you're afraid of failure, then you've already failed.
Never allow failure into the equation of what you want to achieve in life.
Go to music school and try...no...do your best.
Good Luck and God Bless.

It can't hurt to try 'cause if you don't you will never know how good you could have been. Always try, don't give up. If you find that you can't do it, you haven't failed you have only gained experience.
