In life what's more important being smart or just being lucky? What's the reason for your pick? Also some claim to be smart, but they just got lucky, if they got lucky why do they think they are so smart?

I originally thought this might extend into the religion & spirituality topic, but i'm refering to the psycological term.

Is there a more morbid and depressing mindset than apathy?

The conversation took place over the telephone. He was frustrated because his father is not caring for his mother who has developed Alzheimer's. He was trying to pack her clothes and was searching in her closet that apparently was in disarray. Neither of his parents keeps their home clean.
His comment was 'Now do you see why I am the way that I am?" He went on and on and on about how he was the way he was because of his upbringing and how is father this and his father that...
I have been listening to him for months state how since his father didn't do this or that, it has made him the way he. My comment to him was "You cannot continue to blame your father for your shortcomings. At some point in your life you have to take ownership of who you are as an adult."
I stated it very "matter-of-factly" and intended it as constructive criticism. He accused me of attacking him.

What do you think? Does is sound like an attack or constructive criticism.

At times I will hear a really cool, relaxed voice that sets my soul at ease. This is major attraction for me - but I wonder if this is scientificially proven? Am I the only one?

Love rules 4 poor guys.

R1=Don't fall in love if you are a poor man as that love might drive you crazy, cuz nobody will accept empty words.
2=If you are a poor guy and fall in love DON'T declare your love 2 the one you love, cuz your words will be tasteless.
3=Don't look 4 love without your wallet loaded, cuz love without money is like music without sound.
4=Always remember love is money. No money No love.

For example:

Why do Christians, and Jews deliberately distort the word of Allah.

Can't you see, the evidence says Bush was behind the 9-11 attacks.

Why do you censor us, when we point out all the evidence against the holocast?

I guess every group has it's loony fringe.

When we answer them, do we encourage them?

Or should we keep reaching out, trying to bring them back to the real world?

Is it right to say that happyness is just a temporary absence of sadness, due to some reason, and prolonged happyness leads to sadness, unless there is different reason for the happyness at different occasions.

what i mean by intuition is talking to someone, and noticing little things about their body language, or the way they talk that tell u their emotions or how they feel about u. then later u get proof that u were right about that feeling that u got when u were talking to them. u can't tell their exact thoughts, just their emotions. it's not quite ESP, it's more like a toned down version of ESP.

They say that a fool can learn from a wise man, but only a wise man can learn from a fool.

When reading most ‘how-to’ books, we learn from other people’s successes. We are taught that one of the most effective ways to growth is to find the best of the best, and then learn from them.

However, in our own lives, we learn the most from our own ‘failure’ experiences. Therefore, should we be studying the failures of individuals more so we can learn what not to do? What do you think?
