I asked God one day if he really heard me talking to him and praying for help. Would he please give me a sign that I would know if he really was there. Seems like not more than 10 seconds went by when I felt this intense shiver go down by back over and over about 3 times. I feel that was God rubbing my back. That was in 1986 and I still get that feeling whenever I am talking to someone about the power of God's love or just how much I love Him. Don't deprive yourself of the most joyous relationship you will ever have. He never has a headache and is always there to comfort you. Read Footsteps in the Sand and know it is so true.
God Bless you real good.

Exposure to organized religion at an early age can persuade one's mind greatly. Though I believe people follow in the ways of prophets rather than a blind faith in one certain god.
