Is it right to say that happyness is just a temporary absence of sadness, due to some reason, and prolonged happyness leads to sadness, unless there is different reason for the happyness at different occasions.

I don't really understand what you just said. But, I will answer to what I think you just said.
Most people appear to be happy but on the inside are really sad. I mean, it is totaly true that your brain remembers things bad that happened to you way better than things that happened good to you.
I mean, if someone walks up to you and asks how you are at least 90% of people say "good" or "well" or "fine". But, how many of them really are?
I think humans put on fronts. And that isn't good. I am not saying that I don't, thoguh.
HOpe I answered your question even though I have a feeling that I didn't.

The basic mood of most human beings is somewhere between happy and sad

Wow, that's deep! I don't really know how to break it down in those terms, and am not sure that there is a correct answer to your question. Individuals go through a host of human emotions, sometimes on a daily basis. I think that differences you are looking at are better described with life choices, some choose to be "angry" about situations that they have created for themselves and become cynical, some choose to pursue a calmer, more directed life and are content with the situations that they are in.

SAD....this is the basic mood.cz human beings always try to be happier.Though these feelings vary from person to person, the urge to become happier is a sign of overcoming sadness - to improve the very base :)

Happiness or sadness depend on the state of mind. If your mood is good than you are happy but if your mood is bad it means that you are sad.

i htink that the basic human mood is a calm feeling, something in between the happiness and sadness. then something might happen which shifts our mood in one of the two directions.

It depends on who you are. I am mostly happy in life, but that is me. Someone else may be different.
