Maybe if you were sweet to her all the time instead of only when you wanted something she would be happy to let you watch the football without snivelling & begging?

Why don't you just ask her if you can watch the footie? I'm sure she has some stuff to be getting on with, and you can repay the favour by letting her watch something she wants to watch next time. Maybe ask if she'd want to watch with you, even if you know she most likely wouldn't, just so she feels she has been offered and considered. Respect earns brownie points. You shouldn't have to be "allowed" to watch footie by your wife, but by the same token you need to compromise. If you have kids you need to help her get them sorted out before you sit down to football.

the answer to this question has been overlooked by everybody so far. If you had laid the law down about who is the boss in your relationship at a very early stage in your relationship you wouldn't be having this problem. But beware you have to time it right, You can't start too early or you'll just drive the girl away, you need to get her head over heels in love with you & then ... then you start turning the screw gently oh so gently and then before you know it you are on the path to having a great relationship with your wife/g'friend. But it does take a few practise runs to get the timing right. IF any man reading this need' any pointer's you just email me buddy Stevie will get you on the right track

you shouldnt be trying to 'keep your wife sweet' just to watch the footy you should show her love and respect every day
maybe then you wouldnt have to worry about 'keeping her sweet' just to get what you want

Is this something you do all the time? Do you get things done around the house that need to be done? If my husband wants to watch the World Cup (which he does) I don't stand in his way. He works everyday, he does what needs to be done around the house, he plays with the kids - I see no reason to keep him from what he likes. How is it with you? Maybe you should ask yourself why she DOESN'T want you watching sports instead of how to get her to accept it......

give her moeny to go out....or suggest that she has the girls around for pizza and a film and then you go to the lads for the footie
and then next time she will go to a different mates house and do the same/similar and you can have the lads round to yours for the footie
