I wouldn't enter as a favorite, because unless my friends are there, nobody would cheer for me. I would not be the underdog either, though, because I wouldn't think of myself like that. I would be that one girl out to prove herself and the one that nobody truly gets. I would be me. Plus, it's always better to enter a competition, or "challenge" as you put it, without an expectancy, because when you expect something you have standards of what you're going to do, therefore limiting yourself within those boundaries. For example:
"I am the underdog, I might not even get close to winning..."
If you say this you are either the worst person in the competition and you know this for sure, or you say this because you have little self-esteem. If you know it for sure, then you would want to prove yourself, and after one mistake you would probably say, "it's all over". If you're a little low on the self-esteem part, then you would probably be nervous and a little glitchy in your gray cells because you do not THINK you can succeed, whether or not you're capable.

"I am the favorite, I will win for sure"
Having the most people cheering for you either boosts your ego, or actually gives you confidence, and with that confidence comes ********* unless you really know what you're doing and how you're planning on doing whatever it is that you are doing ((hopefully you're following this)). Getting cocky is horrible, because you think you're better, so you don't think you have to try as hard because you'll "smush them like the bugs they are," right? Exactly.

That's my answer and that's why.

A lot of people are saying they would want to be the underdog because if they lose, there is no embarrassment and no let down-you won't become a laughing stock. Well isn't that the coward's way out? If you are going into a competition packed with ready made excuses, why even enter? Sign me up as the favorite. At least that way I am being honest and my performance and possible loss cannot be chalked up to the fact that I wasn't supposed to win anyway. Also ask yourself how many times an underdog won on a fluke. I don't want my win being thought of as a fluke. I would want there to be no question.

Neither.

The favorite is more than likely going to win and the underdog has a slight chance in h@#$ to win. Plus, there's all that Disney related B.S. -- "the underdogs are good and the favorites are evil." It should be about the participants not the observers... back to the question.

The best challenge would be against an opponent of equal talent and skill level -- no one knows what will happen. And, the best person wins.

Now that's a challenge.

I would defenitely rather enter the challenge as the underdog! That way I could prove everyone wrong by coming out on top and showing people that everyone has an equal chance!

As the underdog....always.
If you go in as the favorite, everyone expects you to win. Then, if you pull a grody and yak it up, you will become famous for it and everyone will constantly remind you of the time your performance went in the toilet.
On the other hand, if you are an underdog, nobody really expects you to win anyway. If you lose, you will get sympathy points and you can play it for all it's worth. If you do happen to win, you will make headlines and reap all the rewards.

Underdogs, because I always get a really warm feeling when they win and would love to be able to give that feeling to other people.

Plus it's the whole romance of the "against all odds" achievement

Also underdogs have no expectation of performance placed on them and as a result are free to try tactics and techniques that are more reckless.

Finally, I have an attitude problem and love confounding expectation

When criminals in this world appear
And break the laws that they should fear
And frighten all who see or hear
The cry goes up both far and near
For Underdog! Underdog! Underdog! Underdog!

Speed of lightning, roar of thunder
Fighting all who rob or plunder

Underdog. Underdog!

When in this world the headlines read
Of those whose hearts are filled with greed
Who rob and steal from those who need
To right this wrong with blinding speed
Goes Underdog! Underdog! Underdog! Underdog!

With a theme song like that, who doesn't wanna be Underdog? I for one grew up rooting for Underdog, and evertime I heard the words, "Oh where, oh where has my Underdog gone?" I wanted to BE Underdog and go save Sweet Polly Purebred...

"When Polly's in trouble, I am not slow, So it's hip! hip! hip! and away I go."

So please, give me my shoeshine kit and nice goody goody girl like Polly and I will be Underdog every day.

I would rather enter as the underdog. If I lost, it's what everyone expected. If I win, it will be a huge upset. Plus if I could bet on myself, it would pay out big!

Being a favorite is predictable and way overrated. I want to be an underdog, underdogs are unpredictable and has real abilities.
