If you never had a father, or lost your father, what traits about yourself did you discover that this took away from you. Or, maybe that you were never able to establish. I am asking this wondering if anyone else who has had a similiar expeirence, has discovered about themselves something that they lost or gained, that was negative, from the absence of a father in their life.

where as other people don't and do whatever they want and don't give a second thought about the consequences and who it may hurt,
is it to do with how we are brought up or more to do with our own individual make up,
what makes a person go to the aid of someone in distress while others can turn a blind eye and walk passed,is it something we can control ourselves or is there more to it
what makes a person good and another so bad.and someone kind and another so selfish?

It seems that the older I get the more insecure I feel. I really don't think it getting older that makes me insecure, It's deeper than outward appearances. The only thing I can think of is for years I was able to rely on my looks to get me through life and I did not have to look within too deeply,

In the last 12 years, I have gone through a divorce (husband gay)...been a single mom of 2 children for all the 12 years after the divorce....struggled just to makes ends meat (quite comfortable when married)...oldest child got into meth (off of it now, but still smokes pot...had cancer and went through treatment 4 years ago...still struggiling with finances even more today...oldest child drops out of school age 18) with youngest child (age 16) in an alternative school.

Being a good mother was and is the most important thing in the world and I feel like I have failed them in sooo many ways. Although I have done my best...it obviously has not been good enough.

It is our animal nature that drives us to reproduce, fight for our territory, etc. It is our divine nature that inspires us to do good for others (or if you don't believe in divinity, some other drive). So what separates us? What is it in humanity that drives us to do these discompassionate deeds?

Don't get me wrong, I have lived a relatively happy life. It just seems like I can remember the more negative episodes of my life in better detail than the positive ones. Your thoughts please....

I have a friend who's terrified of germs. When I cough, she covers her mouth. When she comes over to eat at my house, she inspects my dishes carefully to see if they're clean. She carries disinfectant everywhere she goes. If she could, she would sterilize her house. How do you help someone who's so paranoid?

People have mentioned that I've been blunt before and I changed that out of respect for others. Of course there are people I can't help but get smart with. I'm conflicted with this issue because I came from a culture in which it's the norm to be blunt but in America it's not that way. Americans are sensitive it seems. Do people find you blunt or rude? Do you want to change that or does it work for you?

(since it is, essentially, yourself) I decided to categorize this as social science, due to the cloning aspect and also the nature of the question.

People do this to me all the time at work. Don't they realize that you're not allowed to work off the clock? Can't they see you're no longer wearing a clerk's apron? Can't they read store signs? What's up with that?
