I can tell you one thing...

The absence of a father in the home for either sex can give a child a sense of in-completion, confusion and a sense of needing to define one's self. Having a father in the home gives a sense of order and a sense of knowing where one comes from!

Even if a father is the worst example ever, it still helps to have him there. At least the children can decide for themselves what is right and wrong through observation. With the lack of a father, they will never know certain things about life.

A father is a good anchor in any home!!!

I don't know about other girls. but not really seeing my dad for 4 maybe 5 years has made trusting guys hard. I can't see them as being worthwhile. The recent happenings with my step dad has made it even harder as seeing guys as something i want to be with. In fact, alot of things have happened to make me lack trust in people in general.
I also, think that children that don't have a father or more likely to act out when they are older. I think its b/c the father tends to be the main punisher or the main authoritive being in the household. So when a child doesn't grow up with that influence, the idea of respect, and trust in, authoritive figures isn't very well implanted.
that is just my figuring.

Girls become very dependent on males, oftentimes taking abuse just to be with someone. Our self-esteem is also lower b/c we never had that figure in our lives to tell us how beautiful we truly are. We seek validation through romantic relationships and often receive the opposite - more tearing down of the inner child. It's difficult but we can always overcome our childhood traumas, etc. Just don't believe that nagging voice that says you're not good enough. It's not true. Blessings to you!
