I think I am smart but maybe not ..... how would I know?

Since Stupidity is so relative (a really smart person may be stupid compared to a super-genius) I think most people try and compare themselves to people who are less intelligent than themselves so as to feel better about their own intellectual prowess. So no I don't think most people really know how stupid they are until someone comes along and demonstrates it for them.

Nice question! I just wanted to congradulate you first-off for having some fun on this site and asking a fun question. Speaking of which, STOP TAKING THESE QUESTIONS SO SERIOUSLY!!! Holy crap, all these people defending the stupid people because of the subject matter! Lay off!
Now for my answer: Sometimes. If someone is just plain stupid, even then sometimes. But it depends on your definition of stupid. Was Forest Gump stupid? If so, he sure knew it. George Bush sure doesn't know he's stupid, though. Then there are the people who are stupid on purpose. If they are being stupid just to be stupid, of course they know. If they are being stupid when they could be smart but are choosing otherwise, yes, they know quite well.

There is no such thing as a stupid person, views from any walk of life can influence the world for the better. If you mean someone with a low IQ or education level, I believe they are aware of it but focus on other aspects of life.

No one is stupid. That itself is a stupid question, no offense. What people do is sometimes stupid but it doesn't mean they are stupid. They are just making stupid choices. There is ignorant people....we all are because none of us have all the facts but stupid none of us are.

If you mean someone is being stupid when they're acting in a wrong way, it think everyone is stupid sometimes, and for me is hard to notice that im being such an asshole...

No,they don`t,because I used to be one and I didn`t know it.I was in my forty`s before I kinda figured things out and I still got a ways to go!I`m learning all the time.

I dont think so. But it may be due to their inability to perform a job, as the brain provided by the almighty is same for every one in this world. The way he/she utilises and his/her intellectual capacity varies from one to another
