I have seen many different answers and points. As an old-time feminist (for MANY years!), feminism was ALWAYS about equal opportunity - in career, politics, business, finance, etc.
There are always going to be crazies out there and haters out there (of all stripes). Seems to me that we should be looking to the original definition of feminism and not what some crazies make up.

There seems to be a trend of men shaving their chests (and even their armpits). Are women generally turned off by chest hair nowadays?

This relates to domestic violence and the rights of the innocent

Why do you seek to take a human beings right to justice and innocence until proven guilty if you are for equality.

Isnt that more drifting toward totalitarionism than feminism (if feminism is in fact for equality)

Do you see that taking the liberties of all of one gender for the sake of the few in the other gender as justifiable.

Children who grow up in homes without adequate clothing or food are at greater risk to leave school. Why not allocate more tax dollars towards prevention? Should we be lobbying for a change, since prisons have proven unsuccessful for many years?

This is truly not a trolling question...it was inspired by the question posted by the Editor of Singapore Weekly Women's magazine....

Why in our world that is striving for equality for women, do we still have women's business magazines? Why can't it just be a business magazine...addressing issues in business, rather than women's issues in business? And why do we have awards for the Business Woman of the Year? Why can't there just be a Business Person of the Year?

No matter how far women have come in the business world, there still seems to be a distinction between men and women when it comes to accolades.

I realize this opens the doors to all who would suggest that the feminist movement is hypocritical, and not really seeking true equality at all...but I am sincerely interested as to why we still have these distinctions...

It seems everytime something goes wrong for a woman, it is the mans fault. Half these relationship questions on here have something to do with a man getting blamed for some dumb stuff.

The Male Privilege Checklist

1. My odds of being hired for a job, when competing against female
applicants, are probably skewed in my favor. The more prestigious
the job, the larger the odds are skewed.
2. I can be confident that my co-workers won't think I got my job
because of my sex - even though that might be true.
3. If I am never promoted, it's not because of my sex.
4. If I fail in my job or career, I can feel sure this won't be seen
as a black mark against my entire sex's capabilities.
5. The odds of my encountering sexual harassment on the job are so
low as to be negligible.
6. If I do the same task as a woman, and if the measurement is at
all subjective, chances are people will think I did a better job.
7. If I'm a teen or adult, and if I can stay out of prison, my odds
of being raped are so low as to be negligible.
8. I am not taught to fear walking alone after dark in average
public spaces.
9. If I choose not to have children, my masculinity will not be
called into question.
10. If I have children but do not provide primary care for them, my
masculinity will not be called into question.
11. If I have children and provide primary care for them, I'll be
praised for extraordinary parenting if I'm even marginally
competent.
12. If I have children and pursue a career, no one will think I'm
selfish for not staying at home.
13. If I seek political office, my relationship with my children, or
who I hire to take care of them, will probably not be scrutinized by
the press.
14. Chances are my elected representatives are mostly people of my
own sex. The more prestigious and powerful the elected position, the
more likely this is to be true.
15. I can be somewhat sure that if I ask to see "the person in
charge," I will face a person of my own sex. The higher-up in the
organization the person is, the surer I can be.
16. As a child, chances are I was encouraged to be more active and
outgoing than my sisters.
17. As a child, I could choose from an almost infinite variety of
children's media featuring positive, active, non-stereotyped heroes
of my own sex. I never had to look for it; male heroes were the
default.
18. As a child, chances are I got more teacher attention than girls
who raised their hands just as often.
19. If my day, week or year is going badly, I need not ask of each
negative episode or situation whether or not it has sexist
overtones.
20. I can turn on the television or glance at the front page of the
newspaper and see people of my own sex widely represented, every
day, without exception.
21. If I'm careless with my financial affairs it won't be attributed
to my sex.
22. If I'm careless with my driving it won't be attributed to my
sex.
23. I can speak in public to a large group without putting my sex on
trial.
24. If I have sex with a lot of people, it won't make me an object
of contempt or derision.
25. There are value-neutral clothing choices available to me; it is
possible for me to choose clothing that doesn't send any particular
message to the world.
26. My wardrobe and grooming are relatively cheap and consume little
time.
27. If I buy a new car, chances are I'll be offered a better price
than a woman buying the same car.
28. If I'm not conventionally attractive, the disadvantages are
relatively small and easy to ignore.
29. I can be loud with no fear of being called a shrew. I can be
aggressive with no fear of being called a *****.
30. I can ask for legal protection from violence that happens mostly
to men without being seen as a selfish special interest, since that
kind of violence is called "crime" and is a general social concern.
(Violence that happens mostly to women is usually called "domestic
violence" or "acquaintance rape," and is seen as a special interest
issue.)
31. I can be confident that the ordinary language of day-to-day
existence will always include my sex. "All men are created equal…,"
mailman, chairman, freshman, he.
32. My ability to make important decisions and my capability in
general will never be questioned depending on what time of the month
it is.
33. I will never be expected to change my name upon marriage or
questioned if i don't change my name.
34. The decision to hire me will never be based on assumptions about
whether or not I might choose to have a family sometime soon.
35. Every major religion in the world is led primarily by people of
my own sex. Even God, in most major religions, is usually pictured
as being male.
36. Most major religions argue that I should be the head of my
household, while my wife and children should be subservient to me.
37. If I have a wife or girlfriend, chances are we'll divide up
household chores so that she does most of the labor, and in
particular the most repetitive and unrewarding tasks.
38. If I have children with a wife or girlfriend, chances are she'll
do most of the childrearing, and in particular the most dirty,
repetitive and unrewarding parts of childrearing.
39. If I have children with a wife or girlfriend, and it turns out
that one of us needs to make career sacrifices to raise the kids,
chances are we'll both assume the career sacrificed should be hers.
40. Magazines, billboards, television, movies, pornography, and
virtually all of media is filled with images of scantily-clad women
intended to appeal to me sexually. Such images of men exist, but are
much rarer.
41. I am not expected to spend my entire life 20-40 pounds
underweight.
42. If I am heterosexual, it's incredibly unlikely that I'll ever be
beaten up by a spouse or lover.
43. I have the privilege of being unaware of my male privilege.

-- When 1 in 3 women are raped in their lifetimes- including in the
United States- we still have major problems in our society! When
sexual harrassment happens to at least half of all women in the
workplace creating a hostile work environment, we've got some
serious societal issues...
Rape is a war where the victims are blamed and continually battled
against by those in their own country. The effects of rape are more
horrific than for any other crime, and yet we don't see the heroes-
the women who had to crawl through the battlefield of the rape,
parts of her being blown up, her mental anguish in many forms
lasting a lifetime, affecting every aspect of her entire being....
if there is a trial, which is so unlikely anyway, she is blamed for
the war she suffered, her history is brought up, she is dragged
through the minefield yet again... do they do the same things for
our male heroes from the war? think about it....

What is this rant about humility all about? I don't hear anyone calling black people arrogant and superior for asking for equality but for some reason in your mind, women are arrogant and superior for asking for equality. You sound like some feminist has hurt you in the past by being arrogant and having a superiority complex. Obviously that is not what feminism is about and to suggest that females wanting equal rights is having a superiority complex is not only absurb it makes you sexist because the implication is that we should be happy being very smart house wives and servants to men without complaining.

A FINE EXPLANATION

The wife came home early and found her husband in their bedroom making
love to a very attractive young woman and was somewhat upset. "You are a
disrespectful pig!" she cried. "How dare you do this to me -- a faithful
wife, the mother of your children ! I'm leaving you. I want a divorce
straight away !"

And the husband replied "Hang on just a minute love, so at least I can
tell you what happened." "Fine, go ahead," she sobbed, " but they'll
be the last words you'll say to me!!

And the husband began --
"Well, I was getting into the car to drive home and this young lady here
asked me for a lift. She looked so down and out and defenseless that I
took pity on her and let her into the car. I noticed that she was very
thin, not well dressed and very dirty. She told me that she hadn't eaten
for three days ! So, in my compassion, I brought her home and warmed up
the enchiladas I made for you last night, the ones you wouldn't eat
because you're afraid you'll put on weight The poor thing devoured them in
moments.

Since she needed a good clean up I suggested a shower, and while she was
doing that I noticed her clothes were dirty and full of holes so I threw
them away. Then, as she needed clothes, I gave her the designer jeans that
you have had for a few years, but don't use because you say they are too
tight. I also gave her the underwear that was your anniversary
present, which you don't use because I don't have good taste. I found the
sexy blouse my sister gave you for Christmas that you don't use just to
annoy her, and I also donated those boots you bought at the expensive
boutique and don't use because someone at work has a pair the same."

The husband took a quick breath and continued - "She was so grateful for
my understanding and help and as I walked her to the door she turned to me
with tears in her eyes and said, " Please do you have anything else that
your wife doesn't use?"

I'll give you an example:

Here in the USA, when I was a boy, a cashier used to give change for a purchase by handing the coins first, so a man could put the coins in his pocket. Then the cashier would count out the bills.

Today, cashiers fashion a little paper tray from the paper bills and place the coins on top of the bills so a woman can easily slide the coins into her purse. Men, however, are stuck with a wallet in one hand and a balancing act in the other, with no means of getting the coins into a pocket.

No counting of the bills anymore; there's no conspiracy behind that however, that's because cashiers can't count.

Anyway, that's my subtle, "real or imagined" feminist conspiracy theory of the day.

Do you have one? I prefer real ones, but if you've imagined one, please make it over-the-top.

I read questions here asked by men about women that make good logical arguments and I see the women respond with lies, twisted logic and elusive answers.

It is common knowledge that women as a group (when compared to men) are more emotional and more irrational, are more attracted to Bad boys than nice guys, and are just as unfair (if not more so) in their treatment of men as men are in their treatment of women.

Doesn't it look bad when the women come on here and claim these things are not true? If it applies to 90% of women why would you argue for the 10% it doesn't apply to? Am I more likely to meet a woman from the 90% group or the 10% group?

Why is it so important for women to come across as 'perfect and flawless' in comparison to men?

Many people don't want to say they're a feminist, because of the stigma, being labeled a man-hating lesbian. Yet many people agree with the feminist agenda, such as equal pay for equal work and expanding parental leave, But not many people want to say they're an anti-feminist, since that sounds like they're against equality. So who are there more of, feminists or anti-feminists? Why or why not?

I've heard that women avoid dangerous jobs, so that's why men are paid so much to perform these jobs (I guess because less people apply for them?) Do you think women avoid dangerous jobs more than men? Why or why not? Would you be worried about applying for a job that was considered a "man's job"? Would you worry about how you would be treated by your co-workers?

Many women are in the US military and more and more are on the front lines. But instead of less women applying for the military, the numbers have increased, and when they get permission to apply for more dangerous positions, they do. So are women really afraid to apply for dangerous jobs, or are there other factors at play?

I hear people say that there are laws against pay discrimination, so of course, most businesses are following the law. I don't know about that, but if you found out you made less than your co-workers, even though you all had the same education, experience, and skills, what would you do? Would you worry about being fired if you protested? or worry about being black-listed in your field? do you think anyone would believe you? Could you be fired for discussing your salary?

Someone earlier posted about the mother that threw gasoline on her children and set them on fire. And here is yet another incident of a mother abusing their children. This mother most likely won child custody of her baby from the father because of the anti-male laws imposed with the help of feminism that gives unfair preference to the mother.

Will this woman most likely receive a slap on the wrist, like the countless other abusive and homicidal mothers and wives out there? Are feminists here hoping that she gets a slap on the wrist?

About one third of female murder victims were killed by an intimate.

About 3% of male murder victims were killed by an intimate.

Of all female murder victims, the proportion killed by an intimate has been increasing.

Please do not answer by telling me that males are also victimized as well. I am aware of this but that only serves to cloud the original question. Let's try and stay focused.
