Many people don't want to say they're a feminist, because of the stigma, being labeled a man-hating lesbian. Yet many people agree with the feminist agenda, such as equal pay for equal work and expanding parental leave, But not many people want to say they're an anti-feminist, since that sounds like they're against equality. So who are there more of, feminists or anti-feminists? Why or why not?

You could be right.

Forcing a label onto someone can be quite unconstructive.

You could probably call me a feminist by that definition but I will not label myself as such. I feel it is insufficiently inclusive.

One presumes that You are including the Male supporters of the Feminist movement in Your question? I just could not find any acknowledgment for Our participation and assistance in the way You word Your enquiry. Point taken?
I am a Male Feminist, if that classification makes You happy.

i think that rather than labelling people as feminist or anti-feminist, it makes more sense to say that you believe in equality in the workplace and it should apply to race, sex, and creed. and men as well as women should have the right to some kind of parental leave after the birth of a child. i know i'd rather not label myself feminist because it conjures up the stereotype of some crazy chick who doesn't shave and thinks men suck but i also wouldn't want to be labelled anti-feminist because as a woman i feel we have as much right as anyone else to do whatever we want to do in life. i think this argument is soooo OLD it makes me kind of tired. the whole sexism/rascism debates are just so tiresome. "can't we just all get along?" :)

Where did the stigma come from - the guys who find it hard to believe that women may want more from life than their sorry @sses? The saying "Women's virtue was man's greatest invention" comes to mind...

Consider it - then worry less what these lugnuts 'think' - and I use the term 'think' - lightly. I'm damn proud to be a feminist and you should be too (if you consider yourself a modern woman).

For the life of me, I can't understand why folks are afraid of what other's think. If others are not paying my rent, I don't give a damn what they may think because trust me, they're not going home thinking about me ~

I don't know, there are alot of people who are in the middle and don't want to be caught in the crossfire.
I'm on both sides, but if I agree with some of Feminism's views, I'm seen as a man-hater(which I'm not) and if I try to see the other side as well from men's point of view, I feel like there's still no winning.

I consider myself feminist, but not a radical feminist. The radical feminists make guys nuts, because they have a reason everything should go their way...and that's not equality.

Example: Scott Peterson kills his wife and unborn baby, he's in jail, and no insanity defense is used, and no mental health issues are presumed.

Andrea Yates systematically drowns 5 of her kids, and because she's a mommy, she's got to be mentally ill, and not responsible for her actions.

I think most people understand the balance. This is an issue that you can actually be right in the middle. You can actually understand both sides unlike some issues which are a definite I am for it or I am not for it issue.

beckyroe also emails your questions to me not that I mind I find them insightful, I just wish I knew who she is and why she does it. I think it would be difficult to quantify either group, because a lot of them are still in the closet and quite a few are still sitting on the fence.

Maybe there are more people out here who choose not to be labelled and defined by a word whose meanings change almost daily.

Feminists just try and censor everyone. They can't stand criticism.

We have equal pay. The law is there.

There are more anti feminists. People see feminists as man hating even when the feminists don't see their own man hatred.
