There's this guy I hang around with sometimes through mutual friends. He's my best friend's neighbour, and I've known him for about three years. Anyway, one of the most attractive things about me (so I'm told) is my sense of humour, and in the past, when I've said something funny, he and his friends would all laugh along. But recently - for about the past two weeks - he hasn't laughed. All his friends would, but the best he can manage is a weak smile. But if anyone else says something funny, he will laugh. It's just with me that he acts so serious all the time.

I don't think anything has changed between us in the recent past, so why has his attitude towards me changed so much?

We are always talking about ourselves. If we ask someone “who are you” ? mostly a name will be pronounced that “I am so and so” or the details about themselves. We always says “I have 2 hands” or “today I have done this or that “ or “it hurt me” etc. etc. symbolically or otherwise who is this “I” or “me” ?

The US has been in the process of adopting the metric system since 1975...
...Thats 32 years and can not completely change due to segments of our society that are still lagging.
The metrication movement of America is a necessary step if our country is to continue to do well in the world economy.

....We better wise up....

C´mon America, you can do it!!

I posted two questions, one for each gender, asking what is considered degrading for men and women. I noticed one big difference between evaluating the genders:

The majority held the woman responsible for her own degrading acts: "skimpy clothes," "stripping," "being idiotic," etc. While the majority also held a woman responsible for a man being degraded: " I think it's degrading for a woman to correct her husband in front of other people," "Expecting him to resolve problems instead of taking problems from his shoulders," "men having to pay alimony, etc.

Any thoughts?

'Tis the season: The Christmas lights are up, the malls are playing carols, and somewhere in America, the ACLU is filing another lawsuit over someone having the nerve to try and celebrate Christ's birth.
http://www.usatoday.com/news/opinion/edi...
http://archive.newsmax.com/archives/arti...
Wanna have some fun this CHRISTMAS? Send the ACLU a CHRISTMAS CARD!
As they are working so very hard to get rid of the CHRISTMAS part of this holiday, we should all send them a nice, CHRISTIAN, card to brighten up their dark, sad, little world.

Make sure it says "Merry Christmas" on it.

Here's the Address, just don't be rude or crude. (It's Not the Christian Way ya know?)

ACLU
125 Broad Street
18th Floor
New York, NY 10004

(And put a President Reagan stamp on it!)
Two tons of Christmas cards would freeze their operations because they wouldn't know if any were regular mail containing contributions.. So spend 37 cents and tell the ACLU to leave Christmas alone. Also tell them that there is no such thing as a Holiday Tree. . . . It's a Christmas Tree even in the fields!!

They know they're not very good in bed, but after you're married its like little league baseball... Even if you suck, they still have to put you in for at least a couple of innings? Those that know they have the equipment and/or skills dont get married too young?

i generally dont like letting people know what im going through. i see it almost as a weakness. i feel that why would you want to hang out with someone when all they do is talk about their problems. i dont know if it is right to talk about your problems or not. I have a hard time trusting people sometimes too and i dont want the whole world to know about my problems i mean everything about me i like to keep personal. i mean i almost feel like someone would use what i say against me.

Okay, so I had this dream last night where my ex boyfriend had become a best selling author and he wanted to see me. At first I was really hesitent. I didn't want to see him, and I definately didn't want him to see me. After hiding from him for awhile he found me and we reconciled things and made nice I guess you could say. We both agreed that we could have been better towards eachother and that we never should have moved in together (which we did in real life). He told me that he and his wife were going through a divorce and that his son was in his custody. that's all I remember, some background info on this particular ex: it was a really really bad relationship that ended a little over four years ago. This relationship tore apart my family and secluded me from my friends. Needless to say it was a really horrible break up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Having had many psychic experiences I am interested in what science has to say. I have watched numerous documentaries where well qualified psychologists tested subjects for psychic ability but in their tests never mentioned something I learned when studying psychology. That is, that consciousness is a construct that involves the brain selecting and editing out information. In a society that condems people who claim pschic ability isn't it likely that their brains would edit out such information before it was included in consciousness in order to comply with the prime directive of fitting in with social norms.? This is never considered by parapschologists trying to disprove the existance of psychic ability.

If we must distinguish, I guess I can say I am a White African-American, my friend is a Black African-American, and my other friend is an Asian African-American. It's logical, isn't it?

Don't anybody dispute that we all came from Africa. That is well-established.

I was contemplating about this a lot lately. I have been heart broken twice this year, now I am safe for a while, lol:)! Most of all, I am living alone. I do not have close friends as I am working in a foreign country and in a very competitive and judgmental scientific research lab where getting real trustworthy friends with zero superficiality is like searching for a needle in a stack of hay. I have to mention that I have always been ambitious and have self-love, but this depressive state is making me feel litteraly suicidal and that scares me. Today's society is filled with people with mental problems, living on antidepressants and trying to get buy. People leaving religion and belief in God because the main messages have been so twisted that by realizing the fakeness of religious institutions, you give up on believing. Then you go out in the real world and if you don't put on a social mask, people think you are weak and judge you.

Is it possible through the correct meditation and mantras, in the right environment with the right kind of sounds that you can induce a 'trip' on yourself?

Similiar to acid or ecstasy, but all natural and you do it yourself? Is this possible?

I ask this because.. The other day I was up for 4 days conducting an 'experiment' of mine, and I noticed, when I turned on really heavy trance music, that my vision seemed to pulse with the beat of the music, and I felt lighter, and more light-hearted. Also to some point, my hearing was a bit sharper, when I talked, I mumbled, and colors seemed to react brighter.

Would this be a self-induced trip of some kind?
