m on a cruise ship then all a sudden the big ship turns into a small boat on the back of a camel. And the ocean turns into a small stream in the desert. There is a huge chained-link fence that is closed but as we approach it opens for us. 'Then all a sudden I`m at a bazaar in what looks like india. People are busy selling their goods. I find myself walking away from the crowd and down a path of wooden planks that is lined with palm trees. I come to the end of the path and find myself at a huge set of black iron gates. It is locked . I am contemplating on how to get thru. Behind the gates is the ocean and it is so beautiful want to go thru badly. As I try to open them I see two lions pacing back and forth behind them . I then knew that the lions were guarding the entrance to the gate and would not allow me to enter.

.....extent?
Most women, like most men, are complacent opportunists. It doesn't make most women and men necessarily bad people, just too lazy and selfish to uphold any "philosophy" other than me-first. Then along comes feminism, which during earlier phases tried to appeal to all women. If you're a feminist, and you recognize that most women (feminist or not) do not live up to any philosophy other than me-first, what are you doing about it?

Okay, so there's not too much detail here as I'm only looking for a possible interpretation of one reoccuring thing that happens a lot in my dreams.

It's perhaps one of my favourite experiences actually.

There are times when I dream that I am intangiable, that I can walk and push my body through solid objects at will. This 'ability' is used in a strangely comical effect such as not using doors, instead opting to walk through the wall beside it.
In most of the dreams, I demonstrate this ability to my friends and family as some sort of party trick.
One of my main fascinations in these dreams though, is the effect of pushing my hands harmlessly through panes of glass in windows.
I've looked up dream interpretations before, but this one thing doesn't seem to be covered.
Maybe it's just me. :P

I've been in search for books on Neuro-Lingustic Programming, but I have had a difficult time finding anything that reads any better than a crappy motivational seminar or a long-winded self-help volume.

Any suggestions?

I prefer books or journal articles that are up-to-date and at least somewhat academic in nature, drawing on actual studies, behavioral psychology, or any related field.

Thanks for your tips. :)

'Such depressive rumination most often occurs in women as a reaction to sadness, according to research Nolen-Hoeksema conducted with Lisa Butler, PhD, of Stanford University. Men, by comparison, more often focus on their emotions when they're angry, rather than sad, she said.
The reason, Nolen-Hoeksema speculated, is largely cultural. "There are differences between what it's OK for women versus men to focus on emotionally," she said.

How might this affect mental health and behavior in each gender?

‘rumination’ definition:
Negative cyclic thinking, persistent and recurrent worrying or brooding'

'Probing the depression-rumination cycle’

I'm not asking anyone to tell me how I look: I know already. So, please don't. What I'm asking is for face (character) readers. For instance, maybe it wouldn't be a classification you may ascribe to me at all, but perhaps a sensation. How would you feel? I know this is a strange question, cause no one is near me at all. This is just fun, for my own reference when approaching girls. Thank you.

I'll make some dummy answers:

Calm
Maternal
Giddy
Materialistic
Passionate
Intelligent
Charmed
Dominated/Submissive
Strengthened
Dorky
Playful
Rude
Defensive
Closed
Hopeful
Hopeless
Careful/Cautious/prudent
Jumpy
Tough/You feel like cussing a lot
Prideful
Powerful
Insecure...
Viril/Masculine (woman type)
Feminine...

My mind is always going. It's always thinking about something, it never shuts down and its driving me nuts. It's keeping me from living the life I want to live. How can I train my brain to tune out all the little, unimportant thoughts that creep to my attention and only focus on me living out the life I was meant to live?

I NEVER remember my dreams, but the other night I remembered some small details of one. Ok.. just a little background first - I am friends with this one guy who I am crushing on... hugely. In the dream he had a camera and took a photo of the two of us together. In the dream he had long hair.. I just remember telling him to get his hair out of his face. He doesn't have long hair in reality. It turned out to be a nice photo. Then I remember walking with him down this path. It then skipped to me walking behind this other guy on the beach This guy.. I had abit of an argument with him at school the other day. I like him a few years back, but we hardly ever talk. Anyway in the dream I ran up behind him and hugged him from behind and asked, "How did the photo turn out?" I had the photo with the other guy though! The one I like!? Wierd... It's like I was thinking of the first guy the whole time, but at some points he appeared as the other guy.

For the past like 3 or 4 days i have been having the same dream and everytime i have this dream my sleeps are restless and i wake up at 6 in the morning, infact i become half awake half asleep around 5 and its killing me, i need my beauty rest.

The dream is simple
Im in a car being driven by a dead rapper(ol dirty bastard) and with a couple of his friends who are also rappers (gza, ghostface and i think raekwon) we are all drunk and stoned and driving around a neighborhood going in circles and every so often they drop me off at a house and then a girl i work with comes out and we have sex in the bushes and then they pick me up and the cycle is repeated until i wake up at 6 in the morning and cant go back to sleep.

and its even worse now because this 6 in the morning crap was happening over the weekend, now i have to go back to work tomorrow and being tired is going to throw me off.

I recently dreamed of the guy, whom I secretly fancied, wearing smart tuxedo, but standing next to him was a slim, young woman (not myself) in bridal gown. They embraced happily, then the image suddenly switched to a coffin, then a tombstone. What does this dream say? Is it a good or bad sign?

I have become so good at pretending that I'm this "cool" person that I have completely lost touch with my real self. When I moved to an entirely new school after 5th grade, I was friendly, talkative, care-free and even rambunctious. I was good old me. I was aware of the fact that a lot of people might not like me the way I was, but I didnt care. One day in 8th grade, a "cool" kid told me that I was kinda cool, but that I should comb my hair a different way. I tried it and the next day I was given so many compliments. I started wondering what else I could change about myself to make people even more nice to me. It took me years of trial and error to determine "cool" and now I think I got it down to a science..... so whats the problem? I KNOW IM NOT THIS PERSON AND I WILL NEVER EXPERIENCE LOVE UNTIL I ACCEPT MYSELF FOR THE GOOFY FUN AND SOMETIMES ANNOYING PERSON THAT I AM. I just want to be happy and no matter how hard I try, I cant just "be myself." I have simply whittled myself away.

when in reality people who get abortions because of rape or incest only make up 3 percent of the population of people who have abortions. Most people get it because it would inconvienence them or they are not financially ready. Should some responsibility be taken on the mothers part for not preventing it with birth control or condoms and if people are not ready to have a baby why are they so ready to lay down and have sex fully knowing that there could be a possibility of having a child? Please share your thoughts if i was a doctor i would say this

patient: um i want an abortion
Doc:do you know how babies are made?
Patient:yes
Doc did you know that when you have sex with somebody and they ejaculate in you you could get pregnant
yes
Doc:so now you want me to kill this baby basicaly cause you thought more about your sexual needs being met rather then the consequences of it huh
Patient: well i guess so
Doc: well in that case no i will not perform an abortion on you

For example, about once a week I just so happen to look at the clock at 4:21. It's been happening a lot, and when I ask people I know what they think, they just think it's funny. I know it's not just me I've seen other questions on here similar to this and I talked to my mom and she say she sees 7:13 all the time which is my b-day. I REALLY just want to know the scientific name for this. So I can look this up and try to figure this out.

People who haven't read the book think the worst of it.
It makes a lot of sense actually. It makes you aware of the positive ways we can use to respond to a situation -- instead of unconsciously being critical, judgmental, controlling or trying to 'teach' the spouse our way of doing things.

I've heard they are the best dreams that you can have. Almost everyone in my family has had them.... a lot. and i've never experianced one!!!
my dad was telling me that in his flying dreams he has to concentrate really hard in order to keep from losing altitude, and he's had one where he didn't have to concentrate at all it was perfect bliss.
what i've heard from all of my other relatives is "oh they're just so awesome, and wonderful...bla bla bla"

have you ever had a dream where you were flying? what was it like?
AND WHY CAN'T I HAVE ONE? OR HAVEN'T HAD ONE YET? :(
