I do the same things sometimes---stay up late and surf, that is. However, I'd suggest reading, writing in a journal, get some books or tapes on meditation to help you relax. If you like warm milk or tea, try hot tea like mint or chamomile to help you relax. I usually like to take a shower with some soothing body wash and rub lotion into my skin to help me relax and put on favorite pajamas. Light some candles in a safe place so you don't fall asleep and burn things down, or get one of those flameless, battery-powered candles to give the room a soft glow and even a scent if you like different scents. Do you like to draw or do crafts? Work on a project that is fun, but relaxing to you to keep your mind from being bored, but not stressed so you can work yourself into being easily tired and ready to sleep. Hope all my suggestions help.

I take a hot bath and get a book and either a cup of tea or coffee de-caffe of course and relax. The hot water relieves my body's stress and the book helps to deal with the emotional and the tea just tastes good but it also helps relive the psychical stress.

I am single mum. I have been suffering for panic attacks for some 15 years now, though it was not until recently I understood what they were. They were progressively getting stronger and more frequent, stopping me from some days even leaving my house. I read this book and it all made perfect sense.
I am not saying I was not terrified of putting theory to action, I was more scared of that than the next attack! But I decided to view it as a game, one I had control of and could therefore not lose!

Like the others who've answered, I listen to music, hard rock, metal; whatever I can to stop me from thinking, normally when I'm done, I can take off my headphones and think about whatever it was that was bothering me with a sort of dull numbness and it doesn't seem to matter as much as it did before.
