when in reality people who get abortions because of rape or incest only make up 3 percent of the population of people who have abortions. Most people get it because it would inconvienence them or they are not financially ready. Should some responsibility be taken on the mothers part for not preventing it with birth control or condoms and if people are not ready to have a baby why are they so ready to lay down and have sex fully knowing that there could be a possibility of having a child? Please share your thoughts if i was a doctor i would say this
patient: um i want an abortion
Doc:do you know how babies are made?
Patient:yes
Doc did you know that when you have sex with somebody and they ejaculate in you you could get pregnant
yes
Doc:so now you want me to kill this baby basicaly cause you thought more about your sexual needs being met rather then the consequences of it huh
Patient: well i guess so
Doc: well in that case no i will not perform an abortion on you

i am not disagreing that abortion should be legal in the case of rape or incest i was asking why it s the reason why people want it to be legal even though most people who get one got it for a different reason why is it brought up so much when it is such a small portion of what makes up the pie of why people get abortions

Even though I'm completely against abortion, I understand and believe someone should have the option if they were raped and/or if it was incest.
Otherwise, why are you going to do what MAKES a baby, if you aren't ready to HAVE baby?
People need to learn to take responsibility for their actions.
If you aren't ready to take care of a child, keep your goddamn legs closed.
Short and sweet.

Cause its a traumatizing experience, and having the baby will be a reminder of it. Even having to carry it for 9months would be really hard, specially if they're young, or the rapist was a family member.
it might just 3 percent but that 3 percent still are women who had to suffer through such trauma.
no matter how small the amount of women they're still human being, they're someone's mom, sister, cousin, friend, fiance, etc.
Abortion is sometimes good, and should be legal. If the mom isn't ready to have a baby she shouldnt have it, although is really messed up that they didnt think bout the consequences and now have to kill a baby..
its even more messed for the kid to be born to a women who didn't want him/her in the first place.
or if the mom is a drug addict, the baby will be born with complications, even addicted to it mom's drug.
no child should go thru that.
the kid would feel neglect as well..
if its given up for adoption, by the time it gets adopted the kid will have to leave in foster homes, and that has to make them feel bad.
not only that but most kids who are born to parents who didnt want them have behaviorable problems, which will just get them in trouble in the future. may even end up in jail.
i know its not the same for every kid who wasn't aborted but I would rather not take the chance.

I fully agree with you about responsibility, but sometimes it is really in the kids best interest. Don't you know some people who really shouldn't be parents. While I don't agree absolutly with abortion just because it is more convienent, it really depends on the woman's situation, not just how the baby was conceived. What I think should happen is that the baby should be given up for adoption when born. But what happens if the mother doesn't take care of herself while pregnant? Should the baby be born with a crack addiction just because the mother is an asshole? And there's always the chance that instinct will kick in and the mother won't give the baby up, even though she is incapable of raising it properly. The baby shouldn't be punished for it's mother's stupidity, but that might mean never having to suffer for it to begin with

Your question doesn't match your details.
Women fight for abortion to be legal in case of rape of incest because:
It's hard to love a child born from an illegal and emotionally scarring sexual assault. Having your DNA mingled with the DNA of someone that would rape , you'd wonder what traits got passed on to the kid as well. Every time you'd look at the kid, you'd remember the assault. You'd end up resenting a child that did nothing bad to you and it's not fair to the child.
In the case of incest, besides what I stated above, chances are that the child will be mentally or physically handicapped. If you were a woman raped by her father, would you want a mentally challenged reminder of the rape? Would you want your own father listed on the birth certificate of your child as the father of the child? Yeah, not likely.
I do agree that in OTHER cases, it'd be a lot better to prevent the pregnancy. Contraceptives aren't 100% effective though.

Regardless of how rare it is, people fight for abortion to be legal in cases of rape and incest because they don't believe anyone should be forced to have a child who is either inbred or one that they in no way participated in creating.
I think the decision to abort is a very personal one that should be left up to the pregnant woman (until such time as the child is able to physically survive independent of its mother). I don't think the state forcing women to continue pregnancies they do not want to continue would be of great benefit to society as a whole.
Yes, it is true that often people take foolish risks and then abort when they end up pregnant. Should pregnancy then be a punishment that we force on people for making bad decisions? If you would deny an abortion to a woman simply because she knew the risks of getting pregnant when she chose to have sex, would you also deny cosmetic surgery to a person who caused a car crash (maybe they'd been drinking!) and subsequently ended up disfigured, because they knew the risks of being disfigured by a car crash when they chose to get behind the wheel?
And what is the justification for outlawing the abortion of a very undeveloped, wholly dependent clump of human cells while allowing the wholesale slaughter of cows and pigs (which surely have much more capacity for independence, feeling and intelligence than a 6 week old human embryo)?

So you would condemn some one to carry a baby that was created by two of the most horrible actions that can happen to a woman?? Have you ever thought about how you would feel if you had to carry the baby of the man who raped you?? Have you ever gotten pregnant by mistake and it does happen even with women who are taking precautions. It happened to me and though I choose to carry the child who's now 15 I can't make that decision for everyone. Most of the reasons that people object to abortions is because there aren't enough white babies for all of the parents who want to adopt. If people who say that they are anti-abortion really feel that way than why don't' they adopt the babies that have disabilities or the ones who's parents carried them but now they don't want them but who are children of color.? There are thousands of children here in the states who need homes don't talk to me about abortions until you give homes to the one already here who don' t have them. When you do that than maybe I'll listen to you about abortion.

Cheap shot.
A provocative one-liner followed by a less than subtle anti-abortion pitch.
I hold no moral judgment over the whole abortion issue.
But if you were carrying the child of the man that raped you, to have to continue your life looking for and caring for the constant reminder of the evil deed that was perpetrated upon you, would you perhaps regard the subject of debate in a different light?
Not that I would wish it on you.

Have you ever been a victim of rape or incest?
Have worked closely with children who have been victims of both.
Witnessing the total psychological and emotional damages rape and incest has brought to these young people, then my answer is very clearly yes abortion should be there as an option for these young folk.

Perhaps you should ask the unwanted children who are physically and emotionally abused by parents who don't believe in abortion.
#1: It is not a "baby" untill it breathes on its own. Those fetal lifeforms are the responsibility of the person who's body surrounds them. NOT for you to say.
Why do you think discussing the sex lives of other people is acceptable politics?

Hey, considering you believe so strongly in your pro-life nonsense, wouldn't it make sense to put the time and effort into proper grammar and punctuation?
Ok, here is MY little scenario.
The mother wants an abortion, but due to new laws I am making up for a hypothetical purpose she cannot have one. She is now forced to raise a child possibly by herself, and probably into poverty as most people who get abortions aren't rich. The mother is now being over worked and over stressed because she has to work 3 jobs to support a kid she doesn't even love. As a result she has a breakdown and decides to kill her child, and maybe herself.
Oh and by the way, you would never be a doctor as you apparently have the mental capacity of a grapefruit.
