Not every person has this ability but yes there are few god gifted people who can read one's mind in one go even if they are strangers. as far as a normal person is concerned then you can read others mind if you know them well and if u have met many people in life and understand people's psychology. then you can read their minds.

not from the eyes, but the expression, we move the muscles in our face almost unconsciously, and the most expressive ones tend to be around the eyes and the mouth, so it's only natural that when we try to understand what some one thinks or feels we look into the eyes. our pose is very expressive as well, but that's beside the point.

being a proffesional in doing such things, i would from my personal xperience say that it is 110% possible. it is no super power we train ourselves and are able to make out wat is going on in ones mind and can easily say wether wat one says is right or wrong. the change seen in the volunteers face, behavious or expressions easily gives us the idea of wat is going on in his mind.
