Hey everyone,

I have to teach a lesson about music and the effects it has on the brain this Thurs. for my Psych class. Any good information, advice, or topics I should specifically talk about? Links to any good websites?

Also do you know of any good interactive exercises I can do with the class to support my lesson or of any videos online I can show?

Thanks much for any help you can provide....

Scott

I recited my own little verse to my friend when I was in my "emo bubble of depression" when she said i was mute and deaf (bc i wasn't responding to their rude remarks). What do you think of it and do you think it could have offended her?

DARKNESS BLINDS
DARKNESS DEAFENS
DARKNESS LEFT ME SENSELESS
DARKNESS DEAFENS
DARKNESS BLINDS
DARKNESS LET ME WALK THE LINE
THE LINE BETWEEN GOOD AND EVIL
BETWEEN DAY AND NIGHT
BETWEEN WRONG AND RIGHT
I WALK THE LINE

GM has a better or equal quality product. Ford and Chrysler are getting better.

Even though the claim is made that Toyotas are 'made' in the USA, that's not really true. The bulk of the car's drivetrain, electronics and other parts are imported from asia, the largest parts are made here and the cars are assembled here. Whatever the details, the FACT is: PROFITS GO OVERSEAS. We send our money to Japan and Korea DAILY while our workers are laid off.

Just imagine if Ford, Chrysler and GM go broke and go bankrupt. We will loose the cornerstone of American manufacturing. Do you know why? They were NEVER allowed to compete on an equal basis. Japan and Korea have rescricted imported American made cars to promote their country's economy. It worked and now that policy may destroy our economy.
These Japanese companies take advantage of under-developed areas here with low wages and HUGE tax breaks. We are sacrificing regional growth for National economic security.
WAKE UP AMERICA!

Is that true? Because what if the situation is boring, and there really is nothing to do or everything has been done already. What's your opinion?

Or written another way, if it don't make dollars it don't make sense.

Either way, this simple philosophy means a lot. Think about it, in order to do something that is productive for a people it has to make money, not take money. Using that logic, wouldn't it be better for the world if we stopped spending money on war and sarting buidling businesses everywhere instead?

if the only ways you could go was either: down a deserted 2 mile long street that stretched on endlessley: through a large park: or down a series of alley ways.
which way would you choose to go?

the 2 mile long street was very leafy had lots of trees either side of the street. the houses were all dark and silent, no lights were on in any of em.
you realised you had to get home, it was 9:30pm at night. which way would you go?

I dreamed I was working a catering event at Carnegie Hall (I am a bartender)
I was in this room with a window that looked out into this courtyard/airshaft (In the dream, Carnegie Hall was really tall, like 40 floors, and I was about halfway up) The window was small, frosted and kind of high up, like a bathroom window, but it was open.
I looked out the window, and in short succession, two guys and a girl jumped out a higher window to their deaths. I could hear the "splat" sound (I remember the girl was wearing a long red skirt)
I looked over at the director of catering and she said, really nonchalantly," Oh, yeah, people are always doing that here"
When I continued to look surprised, she said," The janitor is really busy"
There was a big metal staple stuck into the wall, halfway up to the window and she asked,"Do you want to try it?"
Downstairs, in the main theatre there was a performance of "Once Upon A Mattress" going on

This was just a really grim, morbid dream. What does it mean

After the movie blood diamond came out a lot of people became aware of how people died to mind for diamonds. Not only that but companies like Van Der Kamp and Debeers (sp.) keep diamonds from curculation so that the prices will stay high so that the consumer pays way more then the diamonds are really worth. As many diamonds that there are in the world a good sized 'rock' should cost no more than 20-50 dollars. Are you still willing to pay for a diamond that is extremely high priced and could have cost someone their life? And if so why?

What do you do about people that spend years complaining about their lives and that they hate the situation they are in but yet do nothing to change anything?

I think choosing to do nothing is a decision so if you choose to stay in place you have made a choice.

Why do you think people refuse to deal with situations in their life that they hate?

Why does our society (US) label people so much? Can’t you care about the environment without being a ‘hippy’? Can’t you like guns without being a ‘redneck’? When and why did our society start labeling people so much?

I am one of the managers in the caring profession, for 18 months I have been belittled, talked down to and made to feel small by my direct manager as a consequence about three other staff members (my juniors) have followed suit. I have felt undermined, indeed these members have refused my very polite requests. I have informed the line manager of this over several occasions (it is now making me ill, I have butterflies feel sick and dread work, although I love my proffesion) she has fobbed me off with promises of future changes and says she would prefer not to rock the boat by moving me as my direct manager will kick off. I am at breaking point and occupational health have offered to help but I do not want to upset my line manager by threats. Should I just threaten to go off sick if I am not moved and threaten to put in complaints for bullying and hassessment. Just to lay it on the line as the softly softly approach does not seem to have worked?

And please, only the mature need answer this question .It is an ongoing research project which includes E-mail inquiry, answers forum response and personal one on one interviews.
In the interest of intelligent exploration and evolution of the human pirit, if you have nothing positive to contribute, please let it eat away at you because it doesn't have any affect on any one but you, regardless of what your tiny little ego tells you. Your emotions and your behavior are YOUR problem, not anyone else's.
