some time ago i heard someone saying that men are "afraid" of strong and smart women, so you agree? do you think that within family men feel interior to their wives who make larger half of family income and occupy a higher/ more prestigious position at work?

No this isn’t anything political. It’s a trait that I’ve seen in a few women. Actually she’s not the one I’ve got in mind . Its an expression of not being enthused, calm, peaceful. I don’t see expression in the eyes. I can’t tell what she is thinking by looking into her eyes. She is mad. I can’t tell. She is sad. I can’t tell. She is happy or joyful. I CAN’T TELL! What causes this? Has anyone ever seen a woman with this kind of expression have a sexual experience? Do they have one? Is this a physical trait in the face or is it a personality trait or is it both? Is it something learned because of some experiences/experience or were they born this way. Somebody that knows psychology physiology, child development, that kind of stuff might know this better than me. I hope she doesn't find this. I guess its a compliment anyway, sort of.

I am a very shy girl without ANY self- confidence. When a random stranger on the street look at me (just a glance), I would think, "he or she must have thought that I am too fat or too ugly." I always think the people around me hate me. I am afraid to speak out because of my accent (I came to US about 2 and a half years ago). I also went on a really unhealthy diet during the summer just because one of my old friend told me "ur chubby (she means in a good way)". I lost 30 pounds within a month (almost not eating anything), and got into hospital right after that. I think I care way too much about other people's opinion on me. What should I do??????? Please help me if you can. Maybe what I wrote makes little sense, but please help me. One reply from you would be a great help.

Today I turned in a project to my professor- the project was composed of two parts, each part consisting of a 10-page test, score sheet, and data sheet. My professor explained all he needed was the score sheet and data sheet from only one part of the project. When I told him I was prepared to turn both parts in, he answered in a matter of fact, but not harsh tone, "That's because you're compulsive." I don't think this was intended as an insult. What do you think he meant?

A friend of mine was raving about this amazing class she just finished for her sociology major called "What's wrong with America." This topic sounds really interesting and I'm trying to come up with as many different points as possible. Any ideas? Thanks!

I noticed a few similiar questions with immature answers like "george bush" or "we pollute" so ONLY SOCIOLOGICALLY SPEAKING, PLEASE.

I'm a very nice guy, but I'm an extreme introvert. I keep to myself and I'm rather quiet, which might be perceived as aloof by others.

I don't have any friends that I hang out with but I have some acquaintances. Whenever an acquaintance of mine asks me out for lunch, or for coffee in the weekend, I always deny. I don't like social situations like that, I'd rather stay home to do my things.

The thing is this: I want to have close friendships, but whenever one asks me out, I deny it.

This is a huge dilemma and I'm totally clueless. Please help me.

What can I do to "force myself" into being more outgoing?

I am doing a study about the cases of Filipinas who got separated from their Japanese husbands. I would like to solicit reactions, and if possible suggestions to answer the problem. My thesis presupposes that the marriage between a Filipina and a Japanese is a personal decision. Primarily, the decision to stay or break a marriage rests on either of the couple. There are, however, structures that support the marriage. Without these structure of support, it will be hard for them to keep a marriage. One supporting structure is the moral support extended to them by their family of origin; the second is their peers, friends or communities; and third, their economic capability to support a family. Tensions in any of these structures could lead to a breakdown of communications and eventually put a stress to the relationship. The structure of consciousness of each of the couple should be considere
