I comfort myself with food. It's a trait that has been handed down through many generations of women in our family.
Tough day at work? Have some cheesecake, you'll feel better.
Kids trying your nerves? You need some fudge.
Can't fit into your favorite pants anymore? Well, hell....might as well eat those cream puffs then.
Not only do I comfort myself with food, but I reward myself with it as well.
Got the promotion at the office? Let's celebrate with cake and bacon!
There is NOTHING in life that I won't use as an excuse to stuff my face.

Hmmm.... I wish you would explain because I am studying immunology at Indiana University for my biology degree, and I never heard of how the immune system determines whether or not depression causes you to stop eating. The immune system is responsible for fighting the pathogens that enter your body. I really wish you would have explained how the immune system is responsible causing you not to eat when your depressed, cause that is a new one on me, and I can always learn something new if I am wrong. I can see that depression can lower your immune system, which in turn means your more suseptible to germs, but....depression and eating? Oh... to answer the question... I usually quit eating.

I find my food intake is about the same, however, I have no appetite, so I am just going "through the motions" of eating. I tend to smoke and drink alot more coffee when I am depressed, anxious, or sad.

I eat less or stop eating all together. My wife and I are both like this. If we are depressed, we don't eat.

When I am sad over a small matter, I eat more but if it's something more serious, like a death, I tend to lose my appetite.

I eat next to nothing if I'm really upset. Like, that is, if the cream in coffee counts.
I think I live off coffee and ciggerettes when I'm really upset.
I mean really upset, not just your run of the mill a little down upset.

When I'm depressed, I'm too sad to do anything. So I don't eat.

I'm strange. It's not one or the other for me. Sometimes when I'm depressed I eat to excess and sometimes I hardly eat at all.

i usually don't eat very much when im upset, only because when im really angry or just totally stressed out, my acid reflux kicks in, and anything that i would eat would give my really bad heartburn and indigestion...
