Today I turned in a project to my professor- the project was composed of two parts, each part consisting of a 10-page test, score sheet, and data sheet. My professor explained all he needed was the score sheet and data sheet from only one part of the project. When I told him I was prepared to turn both parts in, he answered in a matter of fact, but not harsh tone, "That's because you're compulsive." I don't think this was intended as an insult. What do you think he meant?

I think he meant you were eager.
Listen to people's words with your elbows so you don't take it all in too seriously. You're fine.

He meant it for what it was. I look at it as though you are thorough and want to succeed. You are a type A personality, at least from the little bit of info we have here. I am too.... and that is ok. Just don't plan on sitting around doing nothing your whole life.

Just sounds like you are driven to succeed to me. I'm curious, though, as to what subject this was for. IMHO, if you feel that this is your best, then continue to do so, as long as your professor doesn't count off points for additional work.

He was just being "fatherly"........trying to guide you thru the nooks and crannys of life. Don't make much of it, unless, of course, you're compulsive, in which case, you'll probably try to figure out what he meant by what he said and go round and round with it.

I think you go to u of m ;)
profs tend to get that way
it gets worse towards the top of undergrad - just plain ridiculous in first year grad and levels off after that...
Grow a tough skin with profs...they get arrogant and it shows.
