How do you stand up for yourself, without being rude? If you don't know if someone is joking when they say something that sounds a bit rough, how can you be self-respecting without looking like you've ost your cool? etc etc etc.

I have never had any 'crushes' or felt anything remotely endearing toward anyone. I dont' even like them, I am extremely against them, I am extremely against many things. I am an extremely emotional person, and very caring, but never toward people. An example is that I bend over backwards to help people, some that I don't even know and often at my own expense. I, philisophically and morally care deeply for everything. (And also hate it too) What I don't understand is why, if I do all of this, why is it that I have never, ever felt that way. I can count only three people in the whole world who mean anything to me. Why...It sounds egotistical to say it, but I am very intelligent and even more, well, strange. Kind of a meaningless phrase in most uses, but I am a very good person. I just wish I could more easily care about other people. Why don't I.

I opened a dbs savings plus account on september 06 just 3 mths ago. Just 3 weeks ago, someone hack my pc and the hacker access my DBS ibankin user id and pw and help himself to $3k and transfered to ladbrokes using Enets. I asked my MP for help and he had being helpful to write to the bank and police to expedite my case. But somehow the case got a bit jam. Last week, i fall off a 3 legged chair at a kopi shop and hurt my leg, a few days ago, i was being challenged by an old man, he was at the wrapping gift counter at Isetan in front of me, somehow i dun know how i offend him and he say something to me. Just 2 days ago, i slip n fall down in the kitchen hurting my bums. Am i being very unlucky? I cant seem to concentrate on something also. whats wrong with me?

I looked at the symptom of ADD and almost all of them correlate strongly with my behavior. I want to get tested by a professional, but my parents would never allow that because they refuse to accept the possibility that something might be wrong with me. I'm underage so I can't go to a doctor by myself. Please tell me if you have any questions regarding my situation.

Ok - I got a lot of answers the last time...but let me clarify some things:

(1) I am not asking about myself (thanks though)- I am curious how human behavior works bc I am a psych PhD student
(2) Saying that being desperate is "creepy" or "shows you have low self esteem" doesn't explain why - fundamentally, it is a turnoff.

A fundamental theoretical explanation would be something like: being desperate is a turn off because it demonstrates that you have no social network, low social capital, and associations with you would be bad for your mate and potential offspring. *Signs( of desperation are low self esteem, and a sense of creepiness is diagnostic of desperation.

Ok - so that is a sample answer. Anyone else?

We were a well to do family but due to some major judgement error, we lost all our savings and have taken loans from many people. Although we would be getting some money back but it might take a while. We are having fear and embarresment with the prople we are taking the loans and are worried the other people will talk behind our back and might look at us differently. when i was a kid, i got spanked often. last year, i had annorexia then bulimia. i've never trusted anyone and feel like i can't open up to anyone either. i don't enjoy being around people. i'm very depressed and have been suicidal for about a year. my parents and i argue constantly and they are always comparing me to my sister. i'm extremely shy. i cry about twice a day. i hate my family. i don't open up to my friends. nobody knows the real me. please don't tell me to "get over it" or to "get help" because i obviously know i should. i just wanted to tell somebody and get it off my chest.

I am 17 and my mind is spinning out of control
I think way to much, and it's ruining my life
thoughts like these
1. Why Do We Die? I don't want to grow old, why am I even thinking about growing old right now, I'm 17! it's so depressing seeing old people sometimes that I get depressed, and am like "man i don't wanna look like that, i don't wanna suffer like that, i don't want to be made fun of by younger people, i don't wanna sit in my house and do nothing! I wanna be a teenager for life, I love it, I don't wanna have kids, I don't wanna grow olddddd
2. Why is life filled with tragedy
and why does it strike when you least expect it?
why do people die, why must people suffer, why do people take their own lives, why can't their be peace in the world?, why do people sexually abuse children, why do people murder each other
3. Does God Exist?
u always wonder, what if it is all a big lie?, there is not heaven, there is not a reason why people die? ther is no happiness in post-death

Well.I went to sign up with a gym, and the trainer was kinda cute, I mean he was decent, and we talked for along time about health, and he made an appointment, and at the end of the conversation, he gave me his cell phone number in case I wanted to reschedule and told me that if I needed help with anything let him know....okay as an update, he called me liek a few days later, to remind me to come in, So I showed up, and we went through some exercises,and I told him that I couldn't really afford a trainer, and he's says he's going to give me sessions until I can, so then he asks me when can I come in and see him again, I said sometime the beggining of January, and he's like well, I'll give you free sessions, can you come in next week, and I was like okay, if it's free, and then he was like well you have me cell phone number..just in case..so do you think he was flirting or doing his job?Honestly? And is it against the law
