I looked at the symptom of ADD and almost all of them correlate strongly with my behavior. I want to get tested by a professional, but my parents would never allow that because they refuse to accept the possibility that something might be wrong with me. I'm underage so I can't go to a doctor by myself. Please tell me if you have any questions regarding my situation.

It's not that I'm obsessed with finding out if I have ADD or not. I am afraid that it's affecting my academic performance, and I want to get treatment if I do have ADD. I am actually really intelligent, yet I had one of the lowest ranks at my school in China due to the fact that I never did my work, never paid attention in class, and never studied for tests. I have had problems with paying attention every since I can remember. (One of the only things which interest me are puzzles and the T.V. Those are the only things in which I can only pay attention to for a sustained amount of time.)

In response to some of the answer: I thought of the possibility that I have ADD so I started doing research on the subject, not the other way around.
And I can only pay attention to things that is extremely interesting to me. I try my best to concentrate on my schoolwork, yet no matter what I do I just can't seem to focus. I spending around 5 hours just staring at a piece of paper (A exaggeration, but you get the idea.)

Talk to your school counselor and tell them exactly what you said here. Part of how kids are diagnosed is determined by teachers input - often you can find support through what's available to you at school. Don't give up, keep trying and get some adult help.

I'm understanding what you are saying, but, maybe try considering this?

I see you say you looked at information about ADD? And then found that what you are experiencing seems to match all the symptoms?

Could that have possibly planted the idea in you're head that you had it, so maybe after that you kind of told yourself that you did, and so that is how you've been acting and behaving.

I ask this cause' the kind of things we tell ourselves can plant strong ideas into our brains, and that starts what seems to be a never ending spiral.

And this I can tell you, it is probably no accident, not as much as you may think, that you happened to run into that article or ad when you did.

People stand to make a fortune on those drugs, so leaving them within sight of people in certain age groups works great for them!

And some of these medications can do real damage!

Just look how you did this! Very nice. Well written, and you used the computer to do it.

I don't think you sound like someone who has it, juust someone who could use more understanding, and understand herself a little better, that's all.

Be kind to yourself. You've picked one good way to find all that right here where you are, and I'm sure you'll think of more healthy ways, too!

your not alone, i also have done an online test and it said i was positive, but thing to bear in mind is the companys that put these tests online will have alterior motives for example the Dore company offer a test and have contacted me to try get me on one of there courses but they cost £60 a month and offer no conclusive phycological test b4 you sign up. there is a ADHD yahoo group you should look at. also there are many rich and succesfull people that have ADD so it souldnt play on your mind.

There is a simple test that you can do using your PC or Video game. If you can sit at your PC or video game for more than 1 hour, you do not have ADD. You have plenty of attention, you just need direction.

the most important thing is not to obssess over it that's number 1.
Secondly I think most parents don't want to believe that their kids got psychological problems. However, if you show them that you are not really confortable about it and it's really annoying you then they will get worried eventually and help u seek a professional. Don't worry too much, you will be fine. I think I have it but I don't care :D
