I just feel like I'm useless and I think negatively all the time. Sometimes I get so angry with myself but i can't seem to break out of this self-destructive cycle. Any advice?

I know it's just a dream, but I'm interested in what people have to say.
Point form...
I was wandering around in this area, for a reunion. I decide to go to the dentist. His office is set in a large Victorian house.
House owned by dentist. after check up, I was told to go to room 4.
room 4 in a difficult to get part of the house. Inside I see Catherine Willows, (Crime Scene Investigator character) She is either investigating/unpacking (unclear) Looks at me very coolly. I look behind to see a very ill woman lying down on a mattress talking to no-one in particular. suddenly mentions my name, accusing people of neglecting her. I go to her to comfort her.
When I hold her hand, he hand is unaccountably warm. She appears to be unseeing, but not blind. She is delighted at the human contact. After a brief chat, when I am about to go, she is markedly reluctant to let go. When I do, I go with Catherine Willows. We go together to have lunch.
End of dream

I know this sounds weird, but at 18, I feel like I wasted my entire life. I haven't accomplished much in my life, my social life is almost nonexistent, ....My "learning" years are basically over. I feel like I'm just getting older and not doing anything with my life. Sure, I can say, Well I'm only 18. I have 60 or so more years of my life still. But what if I'm saying the same thing at age 50?? Is there still time to improve my life?

I'm just wondering why so many people will buy gifts for other people when they either think they won't like, or they'll never use.
Obviously it's a little different when you're buying things like souvenirs and you really have no idea whether they'll like it or not, but i'm talking about the christmas/birthday gift thing.
And why do SOOOOO many people return their gifts like, the day after christmas day?

I have been studying anthropology and sociology and have come across many definitions of the word religion. I would like to ask everyone what is their understanding of the meaning of this word and what is a precise definition for religion, which might be used for the study of religion in general and the religion of certain persons, groups, etc ?

I am looking more for personal opinions than quoted resources of anthropologists, etc. In particular what are any ideas for overcoming the problems in studying religions from a social perspective. I especially do not like the study of religion as it is presented in anthropology books.

I'm in college and would describe myself as bi, but sometimes, depending on who I'm around, i notice that my mannerisms change. I'm interested in acting more straight, and wondered what people had to suggest for that- sleeping with more women, being more self-confident...etc? I realize obviously things such as voice, clothing, even styles of sitting have bearing on how you're perceived, but i'm curious to know what makes a straight man straight. It would be good to hear from other men out there. I'm not interested in hearing about how changing to satisfy other people is being dishonest with myself- I'm interested in mainly being more confident and happier, so i'd rather have clear answers rather than being told to 'accept myself'. Why not improve if that's what you want??

It seems we are no longer a big agricultural country. It appears most things in the stores are made in china.
Just wondering what are we selling and to who or how are we making our money in the world?

Earlier today I was so angry I wanted to kill myself, and then I had some vodka and the anger went away.

Last week, I was depressed and lonely as hell, and then I drank wine and I felt just fine.

Drinking works. So why are people so negative about it?

Could it be because if everyone discovered the merits of drinking, many industries would fold overnight (pharmaceutical industry, the mental health industry, etc)?

It's not like people are pounding down your door offering to "help."

And if they are talking psychiatric help, well that is just another scheme to make doctors rich, isn't it?

So what exactly do people mean when they say "get help?"

"I don't want to deal with you, so find someone who will - and good luck" seems to be the rough translation.

I was on medication and it went okay, but the doctor and meds in general were expensive and I could never remember to take them and was too lazy even when I did remember. I sleep a lot and have no energy and am late to work every other day. Physically my doctor says I am okay, so it is not any physical thing I can assure you, but my mind is so sad. People are mean to me and make fun of me all the time, I got rid of all my evil friends and family and now perfect strangers come after me in public and even my boyfriend thought I was kind of worthless and left me, how can I get rid of the evil and sadness in my life?

it seems that there is a distorted view of "love" nowadays. The movies, music videos, and media that we are watching daily always project this "love" having a good ending. But what they don't show you is what happens 5-6 months after the initial "i love you" and the feeling has gone away. this hollywood love seems to be more of an infatuation rather then love, so i was wondering how normal people would define love.
