The European Union adopted the Euro in order to have a stronger currency against the US dollar. Therefore they measure the worth by the dollar.
If the dollar falls, the Euro will not hold up on it's own. It will initially appreciate against the dollar, but will soon fall along side the dollar. Appreciation will be a temporary illusion. It the Yanks are holding sacks of worthless cash, the Europeans will be doing the same shortly afterward.

All the countries that have adopted the Euro have weak economies anyhow. The Euro is not backed by precious metals like gold. It gets its strength form the countries within the European Union.
If a sh*t storm comes, the Euro will fall along with the dollar.
Only countries that back their currency with precious metals will stand strong during any such storm.
The Chinese yuan is being backed by gold. It will dominate globally both during and after a sh:t storm.
