Love has to be defined and re-defined again and again, lines of communication can be 'closed for the time being' and reopen again at the proper timing. There are issues of love that can be resolved with little time, and there are those that continue to simmer in 'slow cook', like a stew, until it is delicious enough for tasting and eating. In between, the ingredients cannot be stale and has to be re-modified to suit changing taste. Two people cannot unite until they are able to function as individual people.
Love without boundaries can only exist when two people are able to talk about what is behind self-erected 'fences'. Growth in love happens when we accept each other's foibles (as long as they are just functional neurotics, not addicts), and then work on small changes.
We cannot 'know' love in totality. Only Jesus did. We can learn to draw as near as we can/want. Push/pull happens all the time, not just in love relationships, in business relationships too. As long as we don't push away or pull too hard, too long, being extreme in anything never helped anyone.
I hope this helps.
:)

Love is something that once truly forged can never be broken, it takes time, effort and devotion to forge atrue love. What we see in the right now instant gratification society we live in is rarely true love if it was the divorce rate wouldnt be through the roof.
Forgivness, Patience, Devotion, and selfless giving to another are what true love is all about once those things are in place the greatest test can be passed "Time" The woman I fell in love with 20 years ago is still and as far as I can tell will always be the one true Love that I find even more beautiful today than I did when we were kids.

Yes, how refreshing to hear a voice of reason! Hollywood's glamorization of romance as the Holy Grail to be acquired above all else is the biggest con job around.
I agree with the biblical definition of love-that of wanting the very best for someone else, regardless of the benefits or lack thereof to oneself.
What the culture calls "love" is the farthest thing from true, unconditional, godly love.
It is self gratification, hedonism, exploitation, manipulation, style over substance, lust, ...
I could go on, but I sense we are already in agreement on this.
Glad you asked!

Love is a test of many things. Patients, communication, trust, respect, and the list goes on. I personally feel that love goes hand in hand with temporary insanity. Don't mind me I'm still a little bitter

Or........... As he says on "The Wedding Crashers", "Love is the souls recognition of it's counterpart in another." If you think about it and picture it I think it makes sense............ But I may be wrong. Who knows, right? Just because it was a quote from the movie doesn't mean its wrong. Theres a lot of good answers, but you never really know until you experience it.

Love is what you feel when you KNOW someone, you are devoted to them, you give freely to them & you want to be with them for always no matter what - it is UNCONDITIONAL. I doub t if the idea of "love at first sight" is realistic because you need to know someone first before you fall in love with them - except of course between a mother and her new born baby.

The true meaning of love is to help someone to grow, learn, and be the best they can be, unconditionally - whether it is romantic love or any other kind, that is what it is all about.

Hollywood 'love' is generally just physical attraction. You cannot know a person that quickly. If you truly 'love' them then you really know who they are, and that takes time.
Love would mean knowing them truly and accepting/appreciating them for who they are.
