I know this sounds weird, but at 18, I feel like I wasted my entire life. I haven't accomplished much in my life, my social life is almost nonexistent, ....My "learning" years are basically over. I feel like I'm just getting older and not doing anything with my life. Sure, I can say, Well I'm only 18. I have 60 or so more years of my life still. But what if I'm saying the same thing at age 50?? Is there still time to improve my life?

Wow. I can't believe this question has only been open for 2 hours, and I already I got 30+ responses! I want to thank all who've responded (and those who will in the future...hopefully)! I'm going to have trouble picking a "best answer"....

Just FYI, I'm at a good college right now studying science. Looking at your responses and thinking back on my life, I realized that I just aimed too high. I've had my good years (although I feel I grew up too fast). I didn't become the first child to win a Nobel Prize as I had dreamed, nor did I become an actress as I had also wished for, but I had my experiences. I think I just figured that because I was never class president or Miss Teen USA or did any of the aforementioned things, my life was worthless...

No,your life is not over, you are just at a critical point in your life, where you are about to become an adult and it can be overwhelming if you are not encourage by your love ones.I experience the same thing at 18,and I would say that I was pretty much prepared and did not know it,so not knowing what to expect as an adult handling business, paying bills, going to college, getting a job, paying rent, buying groceries,etc... ,can be an over bearing unpleasant thought.Do not worry,18 is just the beginning, you will have more mistakes, corrections, applause, rewards, let downs and praises.Just hang in there,do the best that you can do,offer the world the best you have, and know that everyone have to travel in life down a road that will have some uncertainty, and you like them will be just fine. And never try to predict so far in the future what your life will be like, because you can not go back with your hind sight and redo age seven,so do not expect age seventy vision and experiences at 18,just live one day at a time and be the best person you can be,and everything else will fall into place.peace, and may the blessing of the Creator be upon you.

Your learning years, depending on your career, could just be starting. You didn't say what you are studying, or aiming for. Do something in science, or nursing etc, and you will never stop learning, this will ensure that you will have something else to achieve, and a list of things you have achieved. I thought the same as you at 18. I had no training, had just finished year 12. I found a job in medical science. 30 years later, I am still in medical science, have 4 tertiary qualifications including a masters degree. Not bad for someone who thought the same as you at the same age.

Good Luck

Wow, at 18, you're just starting to learn basically starting your life. New things are going to come out at you and when you turn 18 it's a time to turn everything around and start your life has an adult. It's never too late for anything. Think at 17-18 you're only graduating highschool and then you have to decide which college to attend and what you wanna do with your life. So sweetie, never think it's too late. 18, is still very young. Good luck with everything. ;)

Sounds like boredom to me.
Boredom is often depression with a fixation on something we really want but can't have. What would make your life exciting right now? I suspect that there is something that would. So look at it and figure out if it is neurotic or realistic. If it is realistic then make small goals toward it. If it is neurotic then get in a support group.
You must look into yourself and find your talent. My talent is weak but I find many many things to apply it to and help make the world a little bit better place. The world is exciting the more I let go of my hangups.

don't take this the wrong way but I am 36, and I know a thing or two and, at 18, you know nothing and you're life has barely begun...unless you have some kind of disease or accident, you will have 50, 60, or more years of life, most people don't accomplish much by 18, and they barely know who they are or what they want...go to college, take a lover, find a passion and pursue it, you've got one life, woman, enjoy it! If you are confused, check in with a professional counselor, a good one can help...good luck...no, your life hasn't even started or is just starting at 18...Relax!

Your "learning" years are never over. Now you can start learning different things. Anyone can change the way their life is going at any point. Ask a person in their 60's who goes back to college to get that degree they wanted to get when they were 18.

Like me you have high expectations in life. There still is a long time to accomplish something special. Think of things that you can only become good at as you get older. Look at JK Rowlings life.

dont be so hard on yourself, you will give yourself a mental illness

Don't worry about it. You've got loads of time to enjoy yourself and to accomplish things. The time when you will accomplish things will most likely be later in your life. You have plenty of time to make friends, etc. And if you feel like you are not doing anything with your life, think of what you want to do, and then just go for it.

There is most definitely still time to improve your life. Don't worry about this at all, and put your mind at rest. :)
