England and France have similar populations (probably quite close in the early 19th century too) but France has twice the area. Also, France has a far higher % of her GDP dedicated to agricultural goods. As a result, if you think about it, large markets which draw in people from a huge area (largely devoid of shops) are more likely to be popular in France; and shops which produce tertiary (manufactured) products, and which can depend on their densely-populated surroundings, are more likely to occur in England. Right?

I've noticed a certain repeated behaviour with some people. If someone does something kind or helpful for them, the recipient loses respect for the person helping out. Why is this ????? Because of this trait in people, I sort of keep them "at arms length" and appear indifferent to them. This almost always ensures that you'll get respect. Is this another example of "nice guys finishing last". Can this be explained? Is there a psychology explanation for this?????

Someone made a comment today about how she only gets along with attractive individuals and only likes to speak to those who she feels are eye-catching. It made me start thinking....do we treat others better or worse just based on how they look?

By the way, this female is in her 20's so it wasn't made by a teenager who is still in high school.

Can you actually trust a fellow human being with your life? A lot of people trust their friends and family even though they can go and turn their back on them at any moment. We see these instances on the news and even in our daily life, so how can you truly leave yourself vulnerable to another human being? Some people believe that no one from their own particular race would ever hurt them even though as I stated earlier that it is shown on television that you see hispanics against hispanics, whites against whites, blacks against blacks, and etc. I'm not asking this question because I feel that I don't trust others I'm asking this to see if we as a people, as a society ever truly trust our neighbors, boss, friends, family, pretty much others. Thank you.

Look at the poor asians in this country, their crime rates still aren't anywhere as high as certain other races that like to play the poverty card. It's ashame excuses are made to hide racial problems, such as crime in a certain race.
I'm not gonna specify as I will be called an racist for telling the truth. Bill Cosby's speech at the NAACP was right on.

So...this is going to sound weird and maybe a little funny. I have my own suspicions about what happned and I want your answers to double check. Ok...I play piano and am a piano teacher. Recently I have been practicing for a performance and have been very nervous..so nervous I couldn't concentrate and play well. My bf is an english teacher and part time stage hypnotist. He suggested that he hypnotize me not to be so nervous. Well he came over and he was able to hypnotize me (very quickly..people who play music ae susceptable) Anyway..I was not nervous anymore and played fine..the thing is..when I woke up from hypnosis I found that my feet were really sticky feeling. I didn;t remember much from hypnosis and had him tape the session..but nothing could explain my sticky bare feet. So...what do you think happend? Help a girl out. Thanks

Where would you say most psychologists are employed? University, hospital, or somewhere else. I am in the U.S (michigan to be exact) and I am going to pursue the Ph.D in either clinical or counseling psychology. Which specialty is more marketable for private practice? I know M.F.T make nice money in private practice so I was leaning towards that but there is something about neuro-abnormalities that attracts me to the clinical aspect of psychology. I like psych because I can work for myself instead of being at a company's disposal. However, I would like to work at a company to acquire the perks (health insurance primarily) and have a practice for later at night and the weekends. Is this an accurate attainable vision for psychology or am I way off?

Assume that a Treasury Security with 10 years to mature and annual coupon payments = 6% of its face value is selling today at its face value in the spot market. Assume that the price of a 10 year T- Note futures contract due to expire in 6 months is $98,500 per 100,000 of face value. Finally, assume that it is possible for well-collateralized institutions to either borrow or lend money for 6 months at an annualized interest rate of 5 %. Is there an opportunity for risk free arbitrage here? If so, explain what you would do to exploit it. If not, explain why not. You may ignore transactions costs such as brokers’ fees.

Suppose that mid-east terrorists crashed a stolen corporate jet full of nerve gas into Disneyworld. Would the intrinsic value of “at the money” stock index put and call options change? (‘at the money’ options are options with a strike price equal to the current market price of their underlying financial instrument or index) If not, explain why not. If so, how would the intrinsic value change for each of these options?

Assume you manage a mutual fund whose prospectus requires it to remain fully invested in U.S. stocks, and you are concerned that stocks generally have become overvalued even though overall sentiment in the market remains bullish. Assume that you wish to limit your exposure to a sharp "correction" in market prices without giving up the possibility of further gains in your portfolio should the bull market continue despite your misgivings.
Describe a risk management strategy that you could implement using an exchange traded derivative product.

I had my car fixed at a garage. The day I went to pick it up, while I wait for my car to be pulled up for me to pick up, I asked one of the mechanics a question to fill in the silence while we waited. The dialog went like this:

Me: "Hey, do you have a brother who owns a towing service? I had my car towed one time and I remembered that he looked just like you".

The mechanic went to speak to the other guy in the shop (who was the guy that towed my car) who was working on fixing another car. And then he went off saying how much that guy didn't look anything like him.

The mechanic: "He may act like me and try to be me. But he ain't me." And then he continued for a bit and refered to me talking to the towing guy. "He (me, the asker of this question) just insulted me without even knowing it.". And I detected that he was upset

So can you explain to me how I insulted him?
