Poverty is only one factor related to crime and criminality. I don't know anyone who suggests that it is the only factor. But it is no more legitimate to ignore the role of poverty than it is to suggest it is the only cause.

If poverty caused crime, then all of uncles would have become serial killers. All I heard about my entire youth was how poor they were.
Asian people have something good going for them - they don't have any race-hustling poverty-pimps in their community. Let's hope it stays that way.

My wife, her sister, and my wife's parents came to the US from communist cuba. They had NOTHING when they came. They got NO support from the government. And they could NOT speak English. Her dad got a job the first week. Her mother got a job a few weeks later.
Now you get someone who is young, male, and black, and they cannot find a job. Why, because they cannot read, write, or pass the drug test to get a job. It is everyone's fault but theirs! They all want to be rappers, entertainers, but they cannot get out of bed to even show up on time for a job, when they have a job.
I work for a big company and everyone get's to work on time, works a full week, except ONLY for the black employees. They have a million reasons why they cannot come to work. Why is it ONLY them? Today it rained. NONE came to work because they cannot drive in the rain. Everyone else did. Including the spanish, the asians, and the whites.
Bill Cosby needs to put his speech into a CD and give it to everyone in the USA. I BET the NAACP will not ask him to go back again! Protest THAT, Jackson!!

you shouldn't judge other people's situations by what you observe, there is more than meets the eye. I don't think that criminals say they did it because they were poor, but their is a correlation between socio-economics, and crime. But now that we are somewhat prosecuting rich people for their crimes, as well, maybe there won't be such a divide. Rich people don't commit less crimes, they just get out of the consequences more often. Not all rich people are corrupt, not all poor people are criminals. You just keep working hard for yourself, and don't worry how other people live their lives. Their choices will affect them

Seeing race as the most important characteristic about a person is usually defined as "being a racist". You are only telling your version of the truth. Men have a much higher crime rate than women, the young commit more crimes than the old, the poor more than the rich, the dumb more the smart etc. I can assure that smart rich old black women have a much lower crime rate than do dumb poor young Asian men.
