As I look through Yahoo answers, I see a lot of people asking questions that are solely based on opinion. For example, I once saw a question in which the asker asked, "Do you think Fall-Out Boy is a good band?" Then the details went on to explain that this young lady just so happened to like this band. The question received approximately 7 answers. 6 of them said something along the lines of, "No" or "they suck". The only answer that said that the band was good was chosen, by the asker no less, as best answer. Solely because this young lady simply didn't like the other answers because they did not share the same opinion as hers.

Now, my question is this:

Why do so many people waste time and server space asking such ridiculous questions, only to ignore answers, no matter how intelligent, just because they don't agree with them.

I am trying to help my daughter in her Econ class and I cannot find anything that explains, in a way that I can understand it, how US subsidies to foreign tobacco farmers work ... how much is offered ... on what terms ... what are the long tern and short term benefits to the US. I have read a lot tonight but I can't seem to grasp why we do this!

i was about to watch this movie and i felt disturbed because of what one movie goer told me is so sick

here is what one reviwer rote Victor made the film. Its ironic that this movie is about evil clowns, because a clown is someone that usually makes kids happy, the kid actually has a line about why clowns are fake and shouldnt be trusted. Its all so weird, like was Victor trying to get himself caught? There is so much incriminating visuals and dialogue in this film that just doesnt belong in a hor

horror movie, but well brings to mind kiddie porn. Apparently Victor was also a friend of the kids family for years. This movie is almost like Victor was bragging about his molestation of the boy, using his camera and storytelling skills to shove in everyone's faces his relationship with the boy

Regarding the guilt or innocence of a Hollywood celebrity on trial? Such as OJ? Is it because of their status as a celebrity? Or their gender/ethnicity?

What causes one section of society to ascribe presumed guilt to one celebrity over another (who may be presumed innocent in a similar situation)?

This question has always fascinated me.

In the book "1984" there are many signs about how they can tell what we are tinking like the "thought police" can people really do that. In what ways could they do it how do they know if they are right or not? If they are right how do they prove that it is really the truth and they are not just making it up to win their case? If you have any answers to this please let me know and if know of any more ways to explain "1984" in more detail to me that would be a big help too.

Married for 10 years, sometimes a deep sleeper. Woke up manyl times to my husband either touching me (and I mean touching) me or having sex with me. Sometimes I may not have woken up at all.

I confronted him about this and he said it wouldn't happen again.

It continued, and I confronted him about it again last may or something. He assured me he didn't know why he did it and he would stop, blah blah blah. He hasn't even shared a bed with me regulatry for 5 years. I put him out on the couch because of his snoring and because of this issue. He is generally not interested in me sexually, even though I would consider myself attractive.

In October, I tested him by telling him that I was going to sleep, and stayed awake, but pretended i was asleep. He crept in, undressed, and began touching me and saying things, and eventually did it. He finished in a towel or something and left.. I feel so grossed out and disgussed by him.

Any advice?

I'm ready for some negative answers - it'll be interesting to see if anyone has a positive response . .
Why are we pushing so hard to throw away every ideal and practice that people have used for centuries?
Examples = manners, respect, courtesy, chivalry, honor
There are many more non-PC examples like conquered nations, class systems, clothing (dress for women etc) that are in this question.
(dont get me wrong i wear jeans to work and live on a computer)
I'm more talking about the BASIC way things worked for thousands of years . . . why are people so keen on reforming the entire world?
In about 200 years, we have almost destroyed everything good about our world (the respect honor etc) for "forward progress" and for some weird reason lol . . . . things are going to heck . .
Any ideas?

I just moved to california with my dad and went to my new school for the first time today. The problem is that a group of about six people are harrasing me because of my race the call me chink jap chong or they ask why I bombed perl harbor. I ran out of class and just started crying in the hall way. I never want to go back. What should I do? Why would they pick on my just because i look different? I'm sure they would be mad if I made fun of their nationality, race or otherwise, why should they inflict me with such sorrows if they wouldn't want it brought apon them? And what is normal anyway? why do people ridicule those whom are not the same as they when they are different form others as well? The office staff won't do anything because they don't know who the people are and they think that "Oh it's ok, since you're new it was a joke!" hahahahah! what a wonderful joke you make me cry lot of laughs! And i thought high school students were like adults.
