The entire feminist movement has been taken over by marxists. Now, they push an anti-american agenda and have no interest in women's issues.
That's why you see NOW taking a hardline against Bush (hehe, I made a funny) while making the outrageous assertion that Islam is good for women.
Feminists hate men, hate families, hate WOMEN, hate our entire way of life. They haven't been a legitimate movement working towards women's issues for a long, long time. Not only is that sick, it has left a huge gap because nobody champions those issues anymore (although they are given lip service).

Feminists speak of "The Movement" as though it were some war that NEEDED to be fought..
In actual fact .. feminism is more than just about womens equality with men.. it's about a whole new political system, a whole new way of life for everyone in society.. and most of all a much less community/family oriented society since most women will also now pursue individual careers..
We have seen the culmination.. record level divorce rates, record low fertility rates, record high domestic violence rates, record high sexual disease rates..
On society.. we have seen the following culminations.. lower wages for everyone.. as women don't bring their wages up.. they're bringing everyone else down.. so now where one man's wage could easily feed a family.. now it requires both a man and woman's wage in most cases.. We've seen community's fall apart.. and family family values collapse in a heap too.. The average age women are starting families is also at a record high.. and there are so many women now still single mid-30's it's unprecendented!!
So what does it mean ot be a feminist in 2006??
Well for one.. they're still fighting a loosing battle.. for two they're feeding into the hands of those who are using feminism to help remodel society into a leaner machine..
Thirdly.. feminists are ensuring that women in our society continue to loose the option of being a stay at home mother.. which most women would actually prefer over working in some dodgy company.. feminists bent on power and glory for women.. seem ot forget that most jobs can't be done by women in the first place.. like mining and construction.. which is where most men make bulk incomes.. secondly.. most men never have any career sucess and only slave away all their lives.. so why would feminists think women would embrace this silly movement when it is only going to place women in all the dodgy jobs on the way to the top.. and there is only ever very few spots at the top.. which means most working women will inadvertantly by pure fact of numbers.. be left working in jobs they hate.. THANKS to feminism..
So year.. I think most feminists are in it for themselves.. often use it to justify their terribly poor behavior and most often very loose sexual moral values.. most feminists I know are very much borderline prostitutes really.. not far off some of them..
They have hijacked a cause and an ideology but allowed it to be hijacked itself to essentially create a society where women have now been enslaved.. just as men have always been.. and the only benefit is for the very few women who will have independent wealth and glory.. not previously possible.. for that.. all women must now pay a dear price..
Take a bow feminists..

I think feminism has changed radically. It's almost like it has to be defended. Women who started this movement really started with just wanting the right to vote. Then the right to attend university. Then the right to work outside the home. This last one became personal to every man--the everyday man. So women pushed back harder but we had no role models present--except men in the workplace. So we played their game, pushed through the sexism and to this day we are still working our butts off to be paid level with men. It's not everywhere, but it still exists.
I have a bumper sticker and it says "Feminism is the radical notion that women are people too". We've come a long way. There is a general backlash now from women who want to stay home and feel disenfranchised by working women and defensive about the importance of their role. Know what? They're right. In a way. One of the lesson we've learned is that women have an invaluable gift that cannot be replaced with nannies. So I think we're trying to find a balance. And as Americans, or westerners, I think our role is to teach the value of women in areas of the world where women are still treated like beast of burden. I could say so much more here, but I think for the women that are recipients of the hard work of early feminism are responsible for moving the movement forward in other cultures.

I think issues around feminism are hugely confused, since the media got hold of the phrase 'post feminism'. It appears to me that women think that their basic rights have been resolved, and that there is no need to be a feminist.
I disagree.
Women should still be fighting for equal rights, equal pay, sexual equality, the right not to be frightened of sexual harassment.
When men and women are treated equally and fairly, the Law can be implemented equally and fairly regardless of gender and women have equal rights and opportunities in society we can then say we live in a post feminist society. Until then we are not much further forward than when the true pioneering feminists of the 60`s began the fight.

I read Panacea's reply to your question. He disgusts me. What he talks about is victim feminism, or to put it simply "what suits me right now feminism". Real feminism is "power feminism". Its the Idea that women and men are equal, but not necessarily equivalent. Women deserve all the priveleges that men have and power feminists are fighting for that. Power feminists dont hate America, men, other women and family life. Infact power feminists are not necessarily working women; I know quite a few housewives amd single moms who are.

David's Answer:
I would say, from what I see on Lifetime (my wife watches it every night), to always be either a victim, or a police officer (female) who makes all the decisions because her male partner is an idiot.
....brilliant man....
I am for equality, but more and more (and you can debate 'intentions' until the end of time, but I'm concerned with the results) feminism is about bringing down men rather than putting women up. That is the RESULT, I'm not saying its necessarily what they are trying to do. (Though I'd like to...)

it means the same thing now as it did way back when. feminist only means someone who supports equal rights for both men and women.
people too often only think of the extreme feminist and then look down upon that.
so, if you are for equal rights for women, then you are a feminist.

Feminism started out as a wonderful ideal; women are humans and should be treated equally. Women should be protected, given the right to vote and not be verbally or physically abused. I believed in feminists when I was in college in the 80s.
Women got the right to vote, have superior labor laws, superior civil laws to protect them & free lawyers etc. Then feminism went further-today a wife can yell at her husband. If he yells back it's domestic violence.
Today feminism has morphed into women being used (unknowingly) by Marxists and globalists to promote their anti-American policies (women vs. men & the destruction of the American family, outsourcing of jobs, etc.)
Every ism can go out of control as explained in Plato's Republic. Nationalism went out of control in Hitler's Germany. Feminism today has gone out of control in the USA, destroyed little boy's self-esteem and virtually made fatherhood illegal.
The Politically Correct are very bright and have used Hitlers and Stalins examples to create the Perfect Nazis-feminists. Why? Male species always follow the female species-just think how powerful the scent of female genitals are.
Male species will donate their lives trying to make the female species happy. So if you hijack the female species, in effect you conquer a country without firing a shot. Well lots of divorced fathers die but that's politically incorrect to talk about.
Feminism today is about global control via Utopian views of food, peace and security for all. Since all Utopian views lead to concentration of power and then corruption; you can say feminism it's the female version of the Pied Piper leading them down the wrong way.
