Couple of times I spent my winter holiday in Serbia with a part of my family and friends. They celebrate the orthodox Christmas on January 7 and I noticed they have many beautiful and interesting traditions usually kept and respected by women. However, last time I was there I felt it too political, to nationalistic and too macho. Every dinner my husband and me were invited to, turned to an unpleasant political discussion ran by men. Also, I heard some guys celebrated it on their own way – shooting from their guns on the very Christmas Eve. No magic, no sparkling, just one girl shot in front of the church. The only things that I appreciated were the great efforts of Serbian women preparing the meals, cleaning the house and opening them for the guests. And after all they do, the man should be the first who enter ones house, otherwise, the bad luck will follow this family. At the end, I saw those women resigned, exhausted and unconcerned by
