I believe under Republican rule the U.S. Government was a hidden institution. Until recently the Republicans were doing things behind the American people's backs. With the use of ear marks, pork projects, lobbyist saying they represent religious groups being run by meth heads spending their follower's donations on gay prostitutes.
I live in a country where we can uncover our hidden government and grasp our freedom from the hands of the criminals trying to take it away from us.

The notion "Only a sociologist can answer this question" is false. I am an economist and would like to answer this question. Prostitution is a crime, actually, crime against onself and the community and the world as whole. Other hidden institutions are crimes like armed robbery/burglary/shoplifting/stealing (literally meaning the same thing), swindling ,419 etc. They are hidden institution because about 90% of the traders in this industry do not want to be identified publicly with such a trade for one and the fact that these people pay their taxes (to the authorities/government) using their earnings on the other hand.
