Are they aware that they are lying, and doing it on purpose to protect their reputation? Or is their perspective so different that they honestly believe what they are telling themselves and everybody else? How is this possible? Is it a defense mechanism to avoid pain/trauma/rejection/failure, etc?

Before you answer, remember the following definition of the word 'selfless'...It means "having no concern for self"
I have pondered this, after Dr. Phil (who I am a fan of) said once that people (ALL people) have some degree of concern of "what's in it for me" in any given situation. I have found this to be true...there is ALWAYS some benefit--
Even people who do seemingly "selfless" things get the benefit of being looked upon by others as a "selfless" person...(is everyone following me, here?)
So, I'd really like to have an example of a purely selfless act...I can't think of any...

I was listening to a radio show a little while ago where the djs pose as florists giving away free roses and then they ask where the roses should be sent to, with the idea of hopefully catching people suspected of cheating. Well today the story was that this wife caught her husband in their bedroom straddled over a woman in a thong giving her a back massage and he said that it was the trainer and he was just being nice by helping her with some back pain by giving her a massage. Then on the phone he said to make out the tag to another woman with the message that "I want to make things right and will be trying for the rest of my life". The dj asked if it was for a wife, he said no, she asked if it was for a girlfriend, he said yes. The wife came on and started asking him what he was doing and he backpedaled saying it was for a client and that he didn't really mean "girlfriend". Anyway...clearly he's been caught, does he honestly believe anyone would buy his crap?

Sometimes I see culture and religion as the same thing. But is there a culture, I mean like a native, historic culture (free from outside influence) that doesn't believe in an afterlife?

So many people say man kind is born with some kind of knowledge, but I wonder if there is anthropological evidence that says otherwise?

Why do some guys think that way, are they just pigs?
There is this question on whether we think Victoria Beckham is attractive, and come on most people think she's awfully unattractive with her plastic surguries and weight problem. However this guy implied that we are jealous because most of the "no" answers came from women. He thinks that we want to look like Victoria Beckham and admire her looks and body! Are there any guys that actually think she is hot post-plastic surgery? I think her husband is way hotter than her.

Isn't it the same with guys who give answers like "No i'm not gay" to questions like "do you think Wentworth Miller is hot". It's like they wouldn't admit a guy is more goodlooking than them and if they do they are gay. And they like to insult hot actors by saying they are gay, especially if they are goodlooking and talented and have a great sense of style and is fluent.

I realise that this is common in real life and on tv. It's often that you see a clique have like 3 girls or more and and only 1 guy in the group. And it's seldom the opposite. Why is this so?

If they leave their family because they are sick of the responsibilities and going through the same motion everyday, why then do they leave their family and start a new one with new children? Is it because they hope to "upgrade" by getting a better(richer, better career, more pretty) wife in a better neighbourhood so as to "update" themselves? And for those who leave their family, why do they do not want to have any contact with them again, even if they don't feel anyting for their ex-wives, what about their own flesh and blood? Isn't it cruel?

I had a few hazardous relathionships and a shitload of traumas.I got thru a lot of things but know I feel a need to have someone,to love someone and feel loved,my last relathionship finished in june this year.I really need an advice, being with someone is not a problem,I can easyly find a person but right now I am just too vulnerable to start something new.The main problem is that I feel like I need to have someone, could it be an adiction or just the fact that since I vulnerable for what I have been thru I need someone near me... ideas ?

I think very much inside our brain, there is a close conection between the thought of a gambler, someone who buys lotery or activates numbers by phone willing to win a prize, and the thought of a corrupted person who is looking forward to steal money somehow in his job, evade taxes, or a robber. That is, getting a reward easily. Am I wrong? Are there psicology studies over this?

there are many type of rich peoples in this world, e.g Bill Gates-Inventor, Donald Trump-Investor, Oprah-Entertainment, M.Schumaker-Sport, etc.

Fiction is also OK e.g I want to be rich through thieve job like Ocean 11 or be a treasure hunter like Indiana Jones or like evil mercenary mastermind in die hard 3 etc.

If U are meant to be rich, which type make U proud the most when U are rich.
