India is a huge area with great genetic diversity. There you will find extremely ancient humans who represent perhaps some of the primary migrations of the human race out of Africa and into the subcontinent. Now imagine a human migrational history of over 130,000 years where the Indian landmass becomes a repository for migrations which are coming from Africa, Asia, genetic mixtures from populations east of India, central asian genes diffusing southward, and an Indo european migration to name just a few. This is what makes this place so interesting.

India is a combination of many people. I read about it recently though my memory of it isn't that great. Being a geologist, I can rule out continental drift. Anyway, it was probably inhabited by negritos, very small dark people, who have survived in only a few remote places. It has since been invaded by Asians (i.e Ghengis Khan) from the north and west and Ayrians, Turks, Afghans, and other Muslims from the east. The muslims have carved off the Pakistans and have had a lasting impact. I believe many of the subraces are actually caucasion. It has only been recently when political correctness has simplistically refered to races as continents which really has no basis in realtiy. Asia has many races as well as Africa.

I read in a book once that Indians and Europeans were descended from the same group of people from around the Black Sea, I think. Some migrated to Europe and developed things like paler complexions and all...And some went to India and developed their characteristics today. This is why Indians and Europeans have such similiar facial structures and eyes, if you know what I mean.

. Indians from the subcontinent do not look like whites because after many generations of living at a sunnier latitude, they have as a population developed the darker skin which protects them from the increased sunlight. The are in fact most closely linked to west Asian "Caucasians', They are not as closely related to the far eastern populations of China and Japan.

Because of continental drift, the world's surface is always changing. About 300 million years ago, there were two continents. One, called Gondwanaland, contained parts of South Do to Pangaea. America, Africa, India, Australia and Antarctica, which were then joined together. The other, called Laurasia, was made up of North America and Eurasia.
About 275 million years ago, Gondwanaland and Laurasia collided and joined up to form a single supercontinent, Pangaea, a Greek name meaning 'all the Earth'. In the last 170 million years, Pangaea has broken up and the continents have drifted slowly apart.
